The CMMS comprises a mix of inshore and offshore races for maxi yachts up until 7 April 2024.The Series concluded this weekend with the BVI Spring Regatta &amp; Sailing Festival held out of Nanny Cay, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. The Series saw ten maxi multihulls of over 18 metres competing for the win.&nbsp;For the first two races, there was a breeze, which the 25.34-metre <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/271" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Green Marine (Company)">Green Marine</a> yacht <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/12027" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Allegra 25.34m (83'2&quot;)Green Marine2014">Allegra</a> prevailed in both. “The around the island race was fun and provided the whole variety,” explained Switzerland’s Adrian Keller. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/307975/image/large-b5b2eab8327a716d8024eea6da6df055.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/307975">There were six competitors in the Performance Multihull class, with Todd Slyngstad’s HH66 catamaran Nemo and Don Wilson’s Gunboat 68 Convexity² in direct competition with <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/12027" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Allegra 25.34m (83'2&quot;)Green Marine2014">Allegra</a>. “Although we were only three boats [maxi catamarans], we were never more than two to three minutes apart. During the Scrubs Island Invitational Convexity² blew up her headboard and the very top of her mast track but it was two crew from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/12027" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Allegra 25.34m (83'2&quot;)Green Marine2014">Allegra</a> who offered their services and were up Convexity²’s rig until the early hours of the following morning effecting a repair, so the US team could continue racing.&nbsp;“The next day after racing they (Convexity²’s crew) came over with a bunch of drinks and we invited our other competitor too (Nemo.) The 53.9-metre Baltic 175 sloop <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4899" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ravenger53.9m (176'10&quot;)Baltic Yachts2017">Ravenger</a>, previously named Pink Gin VI, is nearing the end of her extensive eight-month-long refit in Jakobstad, Finland.&nbsp;Originally delivered in 2017 by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/327" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Baltic Yachts (Company)">Baltic Yachts</a>, the full carbon composite sloop, is due to hit the water again in early summer this year, following a refit of her interior and exterior design.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/308760/image/large-220f7088c390fde102b0f11688921b8d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/308760">Not only will her exterior design have been penned by the owner’s team, including Finland-based designer <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/5284" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Jarkko Jämsén - Aivan (Company)">Jarkko Jämsén</a>, but refit efforts have transformed her rig, sailplan, and sailing systems to a high-performance, state of the art standard.&nbsp;Meanwhile, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/329" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Design Unlimited (Company)">Design Unlimited</a> had the task of entirely reimagining her interior design to further elevate her already luxurious amenities to a modernised condition.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/308762/image/large-01d4a8c093894d85782841e924e0463c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/308762">As part of her exterior refurbishment, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4899" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ravenger53.9m (176'10&quot;)Baltic Yachts2017">Ravenger</a> will include a hardtop bimini to shelter the passenger cockpit midship, while an understated, meticulous repaint will revamp her exterior profile.&nbsp;With the owner striving to achieve a more optimal sail performance, the vessel’s mast will be rebuilt in order to support an upgraded sailplan with a triple headsail configuration and square-top mainsail. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4899" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ravenger53.9m (176'10&quot;)Baltic Yachts2017">Ravenger</a>’s restyled bow will also be expanded by an additional 1.5-metres, leaving plenty of room for guests to enjoy. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/308763/image/large-deb77247fd1d980c8b1298139725ad9e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/308763">In terms of her interior restyling, the team is rearranging the sloop’s two-level saloon so that the piano area is now a lavish breakfast bar, as well as switching out the finish of surfaces of all guest spaces so that fashionable dark stained oak features strongly throughout.<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4899" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ravenger53.9m (176'10&quot;)Baltic Yachts2017">Ravenger</a>’s new owners can also reap the benefits of spacious fold-out balcony platforms in both the saloon and owner’s suite that were a defining trait of her original design.As Tommy Johansson, one of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/4899" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ravenger53.9m (176'10&quot;)Baltic Yachts2017">Baltic Yachts</a>’ senior project managers, explains, “Another focus of this project is enhancing her noise reduction solutions ensuring they remain leading edge by implementing all the knowledge we have gained in recent projects. She was state of the art then, but there have been some big developments since she was delivered. A group of 16 leading boat manufacturers and eight industry associations have come together to develop the first-ever environmental footprint methodology for recreational boats under 24 metres.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/308823/image/large-7f755a2c28b948b5137b3cb872f411d2.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/308823">Tackling climate change and minimising environmental impact a is a significant challenge for the yachting industry. In the second phase, the focus will be on implementing this with a comprehensive materials database and user-friendly calculation tool.&nbsp;This will allow manufacturers to conduct eco-design and comprehensively reduce environmental impact, as well as communicate the environmental footprint to consumers, stakeholders and regulators. The project hopes to eventually go beyond carbon emissions and include other critical environmental indicators.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/308824/image/large-13ce8e821b3be7401b58db04e363f78a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/308824">“The outcomes will allow companies of all sizes to access the green transition without greenwashing, reduce environmental impact and proactively shape the regulatory approach in Europe and globally,” added Robert Marx.This combined effort will allow the yachting industry to comply with the latest EU environmental legislation and be ahead of the regulatory curve. The project has already been presented to the EU Commission and has received strong support.The threshold of 24 metres was chosen to align with EU regulations, and will be based on a coherent Life Cycle Assessment approach, following the stringent EU Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules.“We need a proactive and pragmatic approach to sustainability and this project will develop the tools that industry needs,” concluded Robert Marx.
