Superyacht Galactica Star in Venice

Heesen’s largest yacht to date, the 65m Galactica Star, was launched in 2013 at their facility in Oss, the Netherlands. What makes her so unique is what goes on below the waterline. Van Ossaanen Naval Architects with their revolutionary FDHF (Fast Displacement Hull Form) worked their magic on the platform to successfully create a yacht that cruises 30% more efficiently than a conventional round-bilged motor yacht in this size range. The low wave profile of the design improves the yacht’s sea-keeping abilities and manoeuvrability. Keeping to the hydrodynamic style of the yacht is a very sleek and dynamic exterior design by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, and a sophisticated interior by Bannenberg & Rowell Design. Heesen is currently working on the construction of an ever larger aluminium FDFH superyacht, the 70m Kometa. Galactica Star was seen in Venice in August this past summer season, and is currently spending time in Barcelona according to her AIS signal.
