We take a closer look with added insight by Philippe Briand on his latest sailing yacht design – the 30-metre Egoist.
First unveiled in August last year, sailing yacht Egoist is a modern take on a classic American thoroughbred designed for a passionate and experienced sailor to “be a pure pleasure for the owner, not bowing to the demands or tastes of anyone else,” comments Briand. She features a spacious interior with a full beam owner’s suite forward of the amidships saloon, and space for two crew members towards the stern.
Described as day sailor by the designer, Briand feels a race-experienced owner would draw the most enjoyment from this yacht with her reduced crew requirements whilst offering a very hands-on and on-the-edge experience. “The concept of Egoist is to become an owner’s self-indulgent fantasy; it should be the yacht that they have always dreamed of owning,” he concludes.
