The course aims to create real career opportunities for participants, such as naval carpentry, deck fitting, engine mechanics, the list goes on.The first edition of the three-month course officially launched in March, and will be held at the “Don Bosco” Professional Training Centre in Forlì. After this first stage in Forlì, the Scuola dei Mestieri will move to Mondolfo and Sarnico in September to involve more young people in the new project. As a world leader in the design, construction, and sales of luxury yachts, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/4876" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Ferretti Group (Company)">Ferretti Group</a> will share their expertise to the participants. A new industry initiative has been launched by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) that focuses on the impact the yachting industry has on the world’s forests. The initiative encourages clear sustainability goals and open dialogues for more responsible solutions. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/263032/image/large-9840fc3a207fde264c781f549845604d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/263032">“Yachts are an extreme luxury product, but the industry is also an important sector in the innovation of new and greener solutions for the shipbuilding industry in general,” Kristian Jørgensen, technical advisor at FSC Denmark, stated. “We often see innovation in the areas of engine technology, energy efficiency, synthetic fibres, and the direct impact of different materials on the marine environment. But the time has come to pay more attention to the timber that is used.”Timber is a staple resource for the industry, whether that’s teak decking, masts and booms, or interior outfitting – you’ll be hard-pressed to find a yacht that doesn’t make use of the material in some form. The project involved extending the main aft deck and adding a new Jacuzzi to the sundeck. Her interior is the work of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/67" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Zuretti Interior Design (Company)">Zuretti Interior Design</a>. Onboard, the 1,166 GT superyacht can accommodate as many as 12 guests across six staterooms. Performance-wise, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Yacht/176" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Sea Walk62.0m (203'5&quot;)Oceanco2005">Sea Walk</a> can reach a top speed of 15 knots and has a 4,500 nautical mile range while cruising at 12.5 knots.
