Adam Voorhees has unveiled his latest design, Project Sleighride, a 25 metre superyacht with a 230m2 upwind sail area. This is the first project in build that is designed entirely by Adam Voorhees Design. Sleighride, the sloop originally designed by S&S and built by Goetz, is undertaking a major refit at Westerly Marine in California with her new owner.
The yacht has always been a very large and fast daysailer, in fact on her first sea trial she reached speeds of 24 knots. The new design brief calls for automated sail handling systems so the owner can take her out by himself, but also refined and luxurious spaces for entertaining and relaxing with lots of friends and family onboard.
Reflected both inside and out, particular attention has been placed on the idea of comfortable living in multifunctional spaces that maximize versatility and heighten the relationship between the users and the nautical environment. A sense of directness in the built form plus honesty in materiality combine with the latest technology to define an essential and exclusive experience of the yachting lifestyle.
Custom furniture pieces commissioned by the owner and interactive lighting details will also contribute to the uniqueness of the yacht.
