At the end of May 2008 Alewijnse Marine Systems signed a contract with Amels Shipyard for the delivery and supply of the entire electrical installation on board several 171 ft Super Yachts. Next to the electrical installation, system integrator Alewijnse will also supply an integrated bridge system and entertainment system. These Super Yachts from Amels are a follow-up to previous yachts for which Alewijnse received a similar order.
Amels works with Alewijnse Marine Systems as a strategic alliance partner. Alewijnse is a sound partner for Amels when it comes to high quality, reliability and flexibility from the very beginning until the final delivery and service. As a system integrator, Alewijnse’s range of services comprises all electrical engineering, alarm & monitoring systems and fire safety, switchboards, power management, the integrated bridge system and entertainment system including a fully integrated IT network. The installations on board the Super Yachts are to be delivered, in a time-frame, between 2009 and 2011.
The Super Yachts measure 171ft in length and are part of the Amels’ Limited Editions 171’ series. This concept is entirely developed by Amels, ‘to meet the changing demands for high end Super Yachts with a very short delivery time’. Within the determination of the design the owner can implement his personal wishes and demands and so customize the yacht. These Limited Edition Super Yachts are built in series but also demand for a specific approach. This is why Alewijnse will participate in the entire process and will make use of their own teams of specialists for the integration of various systems on board.
Alewijnse is building on a solid past relationship with Amels and is focussing on an extension of activities with this order. Since 1991 Amels has been part of the Damen Shipyards Group, with which Alewijnse Marine Systems has developed a sound relation at both national and international level. Amels emerged in 1982 as a brand leader in yacht building and has launched more than 30 super custom yachts. Alewijnse has been a partner in yachting ever since. As Gert Kaijen, procurement manager of Amels states: ‘Amels choose Alewijnse for the positive previous results on the new building of several Super Yachts. We trust Alewijnse to combine good performance with the flexibility that is needed for the yachtbuilding industry’. With this contract, Amels states the Damen preference to work with long-term partnerships. The Amels Super Yachts will, as always, be built at the Amels Shipyard in Vlissingen.
