Alewijnse signs contract with Amels for electrical outfit on 6 superyachts

Alewijnse Marine Systems, the systems integrator based in Nijmegen in the Netherlands, has signed an agreement with Dutch superyacht builder Amels, to undertake the complete electrical outfitting on six new superyachts at Amels’ yard in Vlissingen. Of the six yachts, one will be the first of the innovative new Limited Editions 199 series designed by Tim Heywood with a distinctive scimitar bow, and the remaining five will be the latest in the successful Limited Editions 177 series.

On the Limited Editions 199 yachts Alewijnse will be responsible for the engineering and design of the entire onboard electrical installation. This will include the following: A Synapsis Bridge Control which is designed to make navigation more efficient by simplifying operation by its users as well helping reducing the vessel’s running costs and making installation easier. It features a new generation of intelligent multifunction systems that not only combine nautical functions such as Radar, Chart Radar, ECDIS and Conning but also permit the integration of additional applications and data. All information is stored at each workstation and distributed across the redundant bridge network allowing access to any desired task from any work place connected to the network.

Within its integrated bridge each Le199 will have five networked workstations with 23-inch displays for the display of chartradar, ECDIS, conning, alarms, monitoring and control, and CCTV. Key features include automatic route planning on the ECDIS while the navigation sensors will be connected directly to the conning system, allowing a ‘clean desk’ layout and the radar has a special feature called Sea Scout, which is an adaptive collision avoidance system. The Alewijnse alarm monitoring system will also form part of the integrated bridge.

The bridge system will additionally be connected to the wing stations, where high-brightness displays will allow the captain or pilot to monitor all the sensors via a full conning page. The central takeover function of the steering system allows the captain to take full control at either wing by pressing just one button.

Furthermore, Alewijnse will also be providing the full electrical installation on board the five Amels Limited Edition 177yachts, where it will also provide the engineering and design of the entire onboard electrical installation.
