A fleet of around 20 mega sailing yachts is en route to Porto Cervo on the island of Sardinia for the seventh edition of the exclusive Perini Navi Cup - one of the largest single-brand superyacht regattas in the world. Taking place at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, the event is said to attract Perini favourites such as the 88-metre Maltese Falcon, the 64-metre Spirit of the C’s and the 50-metre Silencio.Photo: Perini Navi
Three days of racing in the emerald waters of Sardinia will be split across two classes, each with a staggered 2-minute interval starting sequence. The cruiser-racer class is reserved for the more serious racers amongst the fleet while the relaxed Corinthian Spirit class will see participants race without the use of spinnakers.
In addition to the fun racing during the day, a full social program for each evening will keep guests and owners entertained long after the fleet are tied up at the yacht club after the day’s racing. Also on the docks will be, amongst others, the 55-metre world-travelling Galileo G and the 70-metre Sybaris which will join in on the social proceedings of the event as Perini Navi ambassadors. “The Perini Navi Cup 2018,” said Perini Navi Chairman and CEO Lamberto Tacoli, “is set to be a special edition. The fleet of over twenty Perini yachts will guarantee an exciting regatta experience, as well as offering a remarkable sight on the dock. It will be a truly great celebration for all lovers of the sea, of sailing and of Italian yachting. I couldn’t be happier that so many owners, friends and partners have decided to attend and we’d like to thank them all.”
