On a beautiful spring morning, the third Kokomo to be built at Alloy Yachts slid into the water for her trip down the waterway to Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour.
The 58.4m superyacht’s launch created a new record as the largest sailing yacht to be built to date, by Alloy Yachts or any other New Zealand boat builder.
Kokomo will spend the next two months in final commissioning and sailing about the sparkling Waitemata.
Peter Wilson, of MCM Newport, the owner's project manager says: "It was very exciting to see her go in the water – a real milestone in our 21st year as it is MCM’s largest new build project to date (and for Dubois , Alloy and Southern Spars)!"
Like the previous Kokomo (now Konkordia), the superyacht has been designed by Dubois Naval Architects with an interior by Redman Whiteley Dixon.
