We are sad to announce the passing of Tony Hambrook. Tony has been an instrumental figure in the superyacht industry since the 80s, where he was part of the original team in the establishment of New Zealand shipyard Alloy Yachts. Starting out as a production manager in 1986, by 1989 Tony had already risen to Managing Director, a position he held for 26 years until Alloy closed their doors.
Over the years Alloy Yachts under the direction of Tony jump-started the industry in New Zealand, with the company consistently built and delivered a number of innovative, notable sailing yachts.
Having worked with Tony for a number of years, Linda Berry issued the following statement: “Antony Brian (Tony) Hambrook ONZM died peacefully on the 1st of February 2018 in the arms of his beloved wife Kristen. Loved father and father-in-law of Matthew and Tania, Gina, Johnny and Hannah, Georgina and Rhys. Cherished grandfather of Chloe, Ruby, Ayla, Charlotte, Noah, Sofia, Benjamin, Charlie and Isabelle. A service to celebrate Tony's extraordinary life will be held at St Luke's Church Remuera,130 Remuera Road on Friday 9th February at 2 pm.”
We offer our condolences to Tony’s friends and family.
