Following her journey from Poland to the Netherlands, the first 60-metre Amels 60 yacht has begun her outfitting phase at Damen Yachting’s outfitting yard in the Netherlands. As one of three Amels 60 yachts, the new build represents the first of a new generation of Amels Limited Editions yachts.Photo: Tom van Oossanen / Amels Photo: Tom van Oossanen / Amels Since SYT last reported on the Amels 6001, the design choices of the experienced Amels owner have been further specified. She will feature a metallic 'pebble' grey hull and a Matterhorn white and 'super jet' black superstructure.Photo: Tom van Oossanen / Amels Photo: Tom van Oossanen / Amels Photo: Tom van Oossanen / Amels The exterior of the Amels 6001 has been designed by Espen Øino and will feature a large, open sun deck and a 9-metre luxury tender, among other accessories. “It’s certainly nice to see some pictures of the hull,” Øino comments. The thing with modelling in 3D today you get few surprises. But still nothing replaces the first time you go on board. When you go on board, it comes alive. You know if the spaces feel right. So I’m looking forward to visiting the shipyard, adds Øino.Photo: Amels The interior of the spacious 830 GT yacht will be the result of a collaboration between Damen Yachting’s interior design team along with Winch Design. Jim Dixon, Director of Yachts and Aviation at the UK design studio reveals that the design team has, “used pure and natural materials to emphasise the relaxed ‘home at the beach’ spirit of the interior,” including stones and timber.Photo: Amels Photo: Amels Photo: Amels The project continues to move forward despite difficulties posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Travel restrictions among other measures against the pandemic have prevented the owner’s representative from full involvement in the project. However, he has remained optimistic, “ I have full confidence in the management, the production team and also the sub-contractors working on the yacht. I’m looking forward to seeing her in person as soon as possible. The hull looks very exciting.”
The 60-metre yacht Amels 6001 is expected to be launched and delivered in the spring of 2022.
