With less than a week to go until the SuperYacht Times Party, Hotel Arena will be the meeting ground for industry professionals gathered from the METSTRADE show to take some time to celebrate this year’s achievements within the industry. On 20 November, the largest superyacht facility in the Netherlands and repeat platinum sponsors, Amels and Damen, will be joining those at the SuperYacht Times Party to celebrate a memorable 2019.Photo: Hotel Arena AmsterdamAs a year of new records and firsts, 2019 saw the launch of Damen’s first SeaXplorer and the signing of its largest Damen Yacht Support contract to date as well as Amels unveiling its latest addition to the Limited Editions range - the Espen Øino-designed Amels 60 - and the sale of the first unit only two months later. Marketing manager Victor Caminada explains: “None of what we have achieved so far and especially in the last year would be possible without the support, work and commitment of our industry partners and colleagues.”Photo: AmelsFollowing the Monaco Yacht Show, the market’s positive reaction to the Amels 60 and recent sales announcements promises a good start to 2020. “We are the builder and yes we maintain all of the core components, fundamental knowledge and responsibility in-house across all disciplines but we also work with expert global partners who deserve credit for being part of something so special. They are masters in their own field who work with us to deliver the absolute highest quality, experience and craftsmanship,” comments Caminada.Photo: AmelsHe continues: “Many of them spend weeks, sometimes months on end at the yard. Some subcontractors even set up office in the area and employ local staff or move their teams here to work full time. They work with us, as part of one big team together with the crew, fully committed to the same goals that we are. That is true teamwork. Many of those involved will be at the party in Amsterdam and we are delighted and proud to be able to share the evening with them and celebrate the success we achieve as a collective.” Photo: Tom van OossanenAs we look to the future and the exciting new projects that are currently in the pipeline, Captain Paul Bessant neatly summed up the essence of what Amels stands for during the launch of the 55-metre Amels 180 earlier this year: “At the delivery party I had the opportunity to thank not only Amels but everybody who contributed to the yacht’s build and the delivery – from the painting team, to the teak, to the metalwork, the interior teams. On the side of the building, it said ‘ The Art of Yacht Building’, and I think from the experience here for both myself and my crew, they should make room for ‘The Art of Teamwork’ and for ‘The Art of Friendship’, because I really believe they’ve mastered both.”
