Following her launch in August this year, the new Baltic 115 Nikata completed her sea trials successfully in Finland and recently arrived in Antigua ahead of the Caribbean regatta season. During her 3,000nm maiden voyage, Nikata managed to reach a top boat speed of 28 knots.
The all-carbon racer was developed by the naval architects at Judel/Vrolik & Co, with Nauta Yachts having designed the interior and exterior of the yacht. Nikata is designed as a high-performance yacht capable of also offering a leisure experience to her guests. Performance elements include high-speed winches on deck as well as an advanced barber hauling system, ideally suited for inshore racing. Her long waterline and lifting bulb keel weighing 33 tonnes, allows for excellent upwind sailing.
In between races, Nikata transforms into a guest-pleasing oasis with many innovative touches designed by Nauta Yachts. She features a fold-out stern platform engineered and built by the Finish shipyard, which enables guests to comfortably board the transfer tender as well as use this area as a swim platform.
The soundproofed interior is well illuminated by a large central skylight in the deckhouse that provides natural light to nearly every corner of the guest areas. Inside she accommodates 8 guests and crew. Baltic again made use of their in-house modular construction method resulting in a shorter build time.
Nikata is scheduled to participate in the RORC’s Caribbean 600 Race taking place in February next year.
