Baltic Yachts has announced it has won an order to build a new, custom-designed 44.6-metre lifting keel sloop. Developed with global bluewater cruising in mind, the new composite yacht will feature naval architecture and an interior design by design studio Judel/Vrolijk & Co.

“This is a great opportunity to further develop the high performance, multi-role superyacht for which our design studio and Baltic Yachts have become renowned,” commented Rolf Vrolijk, naval architect at  Judel/Vrolijk & Co.  Baltic 146 Custom BluewaterPhoto: Baltic YachtsThe 146 Baltic custom superyacht will feature twin rudders, with a lifting keel reducing the draft to just 3.4 metres. Key features on her deck to enhance her performance include a solid Bimini extending from the spacious deck saloon and another separate Bimini over the twin steering positions.

On board, the new custom sloop will feature a double owner’s cabin, together with three double guest cabins in the mid and forward areas, accommodating a total of eight guests. The superyacht will also have sufficient space to accommodate seven crew members in four cabins in the aft quarters.  Baltic custom 146 bluewater sloopPhoto: Baltic YachtsOther stand out features include a tender well on the foredeck, a fold-over anchor system, a large stern lazarette, captive winches and a 550 hp engine driving a forward facing pull propelled which can easily be rotated to avoid the need for a stern thruster.

Production on the new custom 146 sloop is set to begin next February, with delivery set for mid-summer 2021. The Finnish builder will be working alongside the owner’s project management team, lead by Sebastian Allebrodt from A2b Maritime Consultants.

“This will be the third largest yacht by volume built by Baltic and we are relishing the challenge of working on such an important yacht,” adds Henry Hawkins, CEO of Baltic Yachts.
