For El Jammal, owning a superyacht is no longer viewed as a trophy of success but as a lifestyle. “They want to spend longer periods on board, sometimes several months a year, and see the yacht as an extension of their way of life rather than a symbol of status,” he explained.“The average size of yachts requested has continued to grow,” he added, reflecting on how regional demand has evolved. “With time, the requests have become larger and more complex.” In comparison with other markets, Gulf buyers are increasingly commissioning larger vessels. This legal framework aimed to enable them to restructure, while continuing to operate under the supervision of an independent expert.Following this, on 20 April, the Court of Florence granted protective measures for a maximum period of four months, restricting creditors from initiating or continuing enforcement actions against the company’s assets, including vessels currently under construction.The court also confirmed that these protective measures extended to shipowners, which prevented them from terminating their contracts of yachts currently under construction during the proceedings.The Court of Florence has now issued an order upholding the appeals filed by five shipowners which prevented them terminating their contracts. The Gulf Superyacht Summit, is a 2-day annual event which seeks to inform, assist and advise yachting clients and related interested parties, with the goal to develop the Gulf as a superyacht winter destination.&nbsp;The Gulf region is of growing importance to the superyacht industry. Dubai has some of the biggest marina developments in the world and the annual Formula 1 event in Abu Dhabi attracts a large crowd of superyachts. A growing number of yachts are using the UAE as a hub from where they travel further east to places like the Seychelles, Maldives, Indonesia and Thailand.&nbsp;This year, the Gulf Superyacht Summit will be held at the Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers, located in Abu Dhabi on Thursday&nbsp;4&nbsp;and Friday 5 December.
