Under the banner "A New Consciousness", <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/212" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Benetti SpA (Company)">Benetti</a> grappled with the constant, and imperative, thorn in yachting’s side: sustainability.&nbsp;The builder has opted for this new banner as “sustainability is an often abused term,” as Giovanna Vitelli, Vice President of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6046" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Azimut-Benetti Group (Company)">Azimut|Benetti Group</a>, notes. And it also opens the floor to conversations about much more than propulsion and engineering. We have an annual turnover of around €1.2 billion and 2,000 direct employees, plus all the contractors in Tuscany who work for us,” Vitelli announced during her opening speech. “We are proud and we have good reasons to celebrate this 150th anniversary.”“There is a good reason why we chose Abu Dhabi for the 23rd <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/212" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Benetti SpA (Company)">Benetti</a> Yacht Master,” Fanizza said. “Our sales in this region are record-breaking, and our team here has been incredibly busy. There’s no doubt in our minds that the Gulf is fast becoming the place to be. In total, we have more than 60 yachts signed for construction, with 34 currently in-build. Our current orders will see us well into 2028.” <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/260008/image/large-991515619ab6a45dec50b280efc7bd4e.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/260008">On the topic of “a new consciousness”, Fanizza confirmed a growing appetite for its fleet of hybrid motor yachts, with increasing numbers of its clients opting for greener solutions. A key indicator is its B.Now series – of the four new orders signed, two will feature a hybrid propulsion system.A topic on sustainability couldn’t be without hotel load, which equates to more than 50 percent of the use of a typical yacht. Marco Tommaso Coiatelli, &nbsp;Head of Basic and Executive Design Departments at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/212" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Benetti SpA (Company)">Benetti</a>, dived deeper into the energy distribution and believes that <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/212" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Benetti SpA (Company)">Benetti</a> can save as much as 20 percent of this energy use by addressing three areas: the air conditioning system, the fresh water and sanitation as well as the galley and kitchen.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/260009/image/large-df942ae23143c143fc2f7f1005599a21.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/260009">“In the galley, by moving some three phase equipment to single phase can save up to 70% of the load,” Coiatelli explained. “And if we adopt a magnetic levitation compressor in the air conditioning system, we can reduce the chiller load by around 30%. By adding heat exchangers on the gensets, cooling water return lines avoids the use of water heaters.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/260012/image/large-6f1f7da1d88900c9b4215fa779c1a420.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/260012">But while hybrid is undoubtedly progress, it’s not the whole equation, and progress towards a cleaner future needs to be made in increments – and overall weight reduction is one way. With more details due to be announced during the <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Event/224" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Monaco Yacht Show - 2024">Monaco Yacht Show 2024</a>, her name is inspired by the chemical symbol for carbon – the fundamental element that forms diamonds – paying homage to both the material and the anniversary milestone of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a>.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/328257/image/large-e0a745afcb5157120c3cc4d705303e0d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/328257">Designed by Ruud Bakker and Tanno Weeda, C draws inspiration from the patterns that are formed when light reflects and magnifies from the cut of a diamond, with her profile mimicking this with mesmerising angles. Images of the yacht are yet to be revealed, but <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> describes the yacht as having “an unforgettable profile” and “broad expanses of glass.”Due to her expansive use of glass, the interiors of C are illuminated by natural light, to create a fluid living space for guests onboard. The exterior design of C also blurs the lines between her decks, with her fore and aft sections offset by a half-level to create a smooth transition between each space.Other design innovations onboard C are the partially enclosed lower deck sea lounge that can be used at anchor or underway, a beach club with sea-level dining, a duplex owner’s suite and an articulating crow’s nest rising from a private observation deck.In terms of exterior deck spaces, C is equipped with a pair of infinity-edge hexagonal pools, which aim to match the shapes of her various seating arrangements and atrium. “There’s nothing rough about this diamond in <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a>’s concept collection,” explained <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a>. “As with all <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> concept yachts, C is completely researched and buildable.”&nbsp;C will also showcase Feadship’s next evolution in adaptive technology, with a command centre positioned on the lower deck between her crew area and beach club. The question at hand? “How the yachting industry is addressing the sustainability challenge with top talent.”This report focuses on the social pillar of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policy, whilst <a href="https://mb92.com/sustainability" target="_blank">past reports</a> have touched upon the need for increased regulations, upcoming innovations to reduce ecological footprint and advances in new technologies.The fourth report focuses on the social pillar of ESG, underscoring it as an indispensable engine for the industry’s transition yet it is also revealed that it maintains high levels of inertia in this area.&nbsp;<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/97" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MB92 Barcelona (Company)">MB92</a> analysed the sector’s social challenges, outlining recent progress, and identifying key focus areas, driving factors, and obstacles to adopting sustainable practices. This means that the amount of CO2 released into the air in the combustion process is equivalent to the amount removed from the environment to produce green methanol, allowing for a circular and completely carbon neutral system. Rather than the traditional layout of two technical levels, there is a move to a horizontal development of the propulsion equipment and a new distribution of the technical area on the under lower technical deck, freeing up the lower deck for guest and crew areas.&nbsp;In this modified layout, an additional saloon has been created on the lower deck, where the engines would normally sit, coined the Ocean Lounge which is directly connected to the beach club with its swimming pool and extensive seating area. On the other side, the guest staterooms are connected to the gym and spa areas, offering a new level of connectivity on the lower deck. The stairs, which have been designed to let the light filter through with glass sides, run through the interior of the yacht, connecting the different areas, from the gym and spa area on the lower deck to the second salon on the upper deck. In 2021 the marine fuel supplier and bunkering specialist rebranded its entire organisation with the view to become a sustainable fuel supplier and in their own words, “become part of the solution, rather than the problem.” In line with this major transition, the company has refocused on becoming an energy supplier – whatever that energy may be, and has created a new brand removed from petroleum. A well documented and increasingly popular fuel within the superyacht sector, the use of HVO has a myriad of benefits, not least the fact that it is a drop-in fuel, meaning that it can be used within any diesel combustion engine, and that it can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90 percent.&nbsp;However, not all HVO is equal, both in terms of environmental impact and quality. Over the past three years, the company has invested heavily in the R&amp;D around HVO, finding that Second Generation HVO, made from non-food bio-feedstocks such as waste cooking oil, or agricultural residue, are more sustainable in the longer term. Superyachts, as complex luxury vessels, should demand the highest quality of HVO and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6366" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Peninsula Petroleum Ltd (Company)">Peninsula</a>’s Biofuels Desk has developed specific parameters to identify the highest quality HVO to be branded under BFuture.&nbsp;Over recent years, while HVO has gradually been recognised within yachting, captains and management teams have had a number of questions about its use for superyachts. With one issue being the price point, HVO does come at a higher premium than conventional fuels, the more important consideration is whether it poses a risk to superyacht operations, with captains often erring on the side of caution when it comes to incorporating new products for their yachts.&nbsp;What <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/6366" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Peninsula Petroleum Ltd (Company)">Peninsula</a> has derived to do with BFuture, is to offer a product that not only comes with all of the benefits of HVO, but that is also tailored to the specific needs of the OEMs (original equipment manufacturer). This is combined with a more complete combustion due to a high cetane number (75-99 compared to 40-55 for diesel), together meaning a more efficient burn and more miles per metric tonne.&nbsp;In addition, BFuture has exceptional oxidation stability, meaning that it can be stored for periods of minimum 15 years, and a minimal water content and low water solubility virtually eliminating the risk of microbial contamination when sitting within the yacht’s tanks. In practical terms, for captains and chief engineers this means that the fuel can sit within the tank during winter layups without the risk of bacteria growth that can delay refit periods and do serious damage to the yacht’s components.&nbsp;From a visual perspective, BFuture also reduces the black exhaust output that leaves an oily discharge on the aft of the vessel. That lack of black exhaust smoke also improved the guest experience when underway and when the generators are running. While it may be true that the shipyard phase currently accounts for just one to three percent of a vessel’s carbon footprint, that will change with the advent of fossil-free fuels. Amidst the energy transition, shipyards are gradually switching on to the need to implement more comprehensive sustainability solutions in their operations, business practices and yard infrastructures.There have been some high-profile developments in recent months. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/295" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Fincantieri Yachts (Company)">Fincantieri</a> has announced a plan to install solar panels across five of its sites in Italy, generating a total of 10 megawatts to reduce energy draw on the national grid by 11GWh annually. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1757" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Palumbo Superyachts (Company)">Palumbo</a> has installed solar panels at its Malta yard, a wind turbine at its Naples facility and aims to achieve full sustainability across its seven shipyards by 2030. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> in the Netherlands, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/681" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Monaco Marine (Company)">Monaco Marine</a> in France, and <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/3255" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard (Company)">Gold Coast City Marina &amp; Shipyard</a>in Australia are all assessing eco solutions from rainwater collection to wastewater treatment. However, harvesting renewable energy or paying more attention to recycling is only a fraction of what’s involved in greening a shipyard.Case study: The new-build yard &nbsp;With a workforce of over 3,000 employees across five sites, <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1912" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Princess Yachts (Company)">Princess Yachts</a> has a significant economic and industrial impact on the city of Plymouth in the UK. The company is taking its commitment to sustainability very seriously by re-assessing every facet of its operations with the aim of increasing efficiency and reducing costs, which makes for a compelling business case. Overseeing this sustainability drive is Laura Parry, who joined <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1912" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Princess Yachts (Company)">Princess Yachts</a> in 2020 as Environmental &amp; Compliance Manager. Since then she has seen her role grow exponentially.&nbsp;<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/310000/image/large-1527d40e4e81c2d2905f4c4ee4346cc8.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/310000">“I started off as the sole person within the company with this focus, assisting the health &amp; safety department,” she says. “I now have an intern from the city’s university and two environmental sustainability business partners who work across all five sites.”That extra help is needed: the policies that <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1912" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Princess Yachts (Company)">Princess</a> is investing in and that Parry is overseeing are extensive, and potentially transformative for the business. It starts with ISO compliance, in particular standards 9001 (quality), 14001 (environmental management system) and 45001 (health &amp; safety). Standard 14001, especially, is about continual improvement, which is monitored internally but also audited annually by <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1452" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Lloyd's Register (Company)">Lloyd’s Register</a>. Coupled to this has been an investment by KPS Capital Partners, the American private equity company that became the new owners of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1912" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Princess Yachts (Company)">Princess Yachts</a> in February 2023.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/310002/image/large-67497365ffbc44949c7059c3b71c4ba4.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/310002">“The new &nbsp;shareholders are very keen on environmental sustainability and we have a good plan of action for 2024,” says Parry. “There is a clear focus on sustainability from the top, which really helps our cause.”In addition, a university PhD student is making a complete lifecycle assessment of one model line, literally deconstructing it to analyse every aspect of the construction from the nuts and bolts to energy waste.“Without that we could put our finger in the air and say we think our biggest impact is waste management, but the truth is we don’t know,” admits Parry. “What this LCA will do is point us in the right direction with qualitative and quantitative data. It’s already led us to tweak and change our operations.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/258136/image/large-1a5b771835acfb06005cd285755181e3.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/258136">The end goal is to move the shipyard from a linear to a circular economy and address end-of-life issues, particularly as the yard builds in GRP, by working with its procurement team to go back to the roots of the supply chain.“That’s not only for our own good; it’s also supporting other people to be on that journey, because that’s how you inspire people, by taking them on the journey with you,” says Parry. “Working with your suppliers is really where it all starts.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/310003/image/large-170fa1e30cbba074b8d52f3fb02f7dc3.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/310003">Managing infrastructure&nbsp;Tangibles that can be quickly addressed include reducing waste-to-landfill, shifting waste-to-energy partners from 50 kilometres away to a local plant, increasing recycling, sourcing eco-material alternatives and looking at how to reduce waste by using material off-cuts for other purposes. <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1912" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Princess Yachts (Company)">Princess Yachts</a> runs a digital waste dashboard that allows Parry to monitor positive or negative change in waste management and reduction.&nbsp;“For any company, it’s about working in collaboration with different departments,” she advises. “I might have the technical expertise, but without the support from the rest of the business we would not have seen the progress made so far.”These studies have led to some unexpected changes in best practice. The yard uses Crestomer structural adhesive extensively, for example, but then has to handle the responsible disposal of the packaging. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/309998/image/large-708efe6fda18444b60cf35d6486c9292.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/309998">“When we looked into the disposal compliance, because it’s hazardous waste, we discovered that the liners weren’t being properly squeezed out, which meant a considerable amount of wasted product,” Parry points out. “So by improving compliance we actually made financial savings. Those savings for a large boatbuilder can easily equal tens of thousands of euros just through recovered product.”Similar gains can be made in other areas. The company has undertaken remedial works to remove air leaks, which will deliver significant annual cost savings, and completion of the transition to LED lighting in all the production areas is expected to deliver a six-figure saving.&nbsp;“We’re also looking at a centralised compressor plant at one of our biggest sites to improve running and efficiency,” adds Parry. “It’s quite an investment in infrastructure, but it improves efficiency and will mean we become smarter in how we operate. We’re also adding photovoltaics to the sheds, and biomass heating was commissioned in 2022.”Case study: The refit yard&nbsp;Operating as a refit shipyard presents its own set of challenges, because you’re not working on vessels from raw material to finished product, or at least not with the same degree of control over the process that a new-build yard has. However, refit offers other opportunities to reshape the sustainability landscape across the industry.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/261593/image/large-9a3563c54f6a32b0b53c0e0fd713e509.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/261593">“Shipyards can do two things – one is what you are doing as a business, and the other is what you’re implementing on the assets you are working on,” says Txema Rubio, Commercial Director at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/97" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MB92 Barcelona (Company)">MB92</a>. “A new-build yard can choose the type of propulsion, the materials, et cetera. In refit it’s a completely different story, but we have an important role to play, because at the end of the day we’re receiving an asset and we’re being asked to improve it.”<a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/97" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MB92 Barcelona (Company)">MB92</a> was an early adopter of sustainability and has been proactive in sourcing solutions. For the yard element, installing solar panels on the shed roofs has been one aspect, but equally important is where the rest of their power comes from. Its Barcelona shipyard, for example, has an agreement with the energy provider that all its electricity comes from renewables, which ties in with new yard policies that all yachts in the yard must use shore power – running diesel generators is no longer allowed. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/310004/image/large-9a69ef2fe6ee15eb59947cc683e97d8d.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/310004">Similarly, yachts can only be painted on hardstanding, not afloat. Hardstanding is a much higher cost per day than berthing and that means telling clients that if they want to have a paint job at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/97" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MB92 Barcelona (Company)">MB92</a> they will have to pay at the hardstand rate, not the berthing rate.&nbsp;“We lost a lot of clients in the beginning, but now clients understand why we have that policy,” says Rubio. “It means the yard has much more control over everything, from water treatment to prevention of leaks and spills, and it ties in to other yard infrastructure and machinery investments that contribute to reducing the environmental impact of every aspect of the yard and its operations.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/261590/image/large-47d097ce0549707640f987792763b9e0.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/261590">These measures include water treatment plants that treat everything, even rainwater, before it gets discharged, and Sea Bins that skim plastics and other debris from the harbour water before they can reach the open sea. When the new ship lift was built at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/547" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="MB92 La Ciotat (Company)">MB92 La Ciotat</a>, they received permission to use HVO in all the machinery, which means a 90 percent reduction in carbon emissions.&nbsp;When it comes to the business side, Rubio says there is a more fundamental driver than simply return on investment. <img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/310005/image/large-750953a2d3d77376b37db5ef5052f61c.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/310005">“There’s no choice, we cannot not do it, so doing it quicker gives you an advantage and you are a leader,” he maintains. “Plus if we don’t take care of our playground, the sea, then we have nothing to sell to our clients. The amount of investment, the percentage of your revenue you apply to that, I think is different in each case. We’re investing a lot and we’re making business decisions because we truly believe it’s the future. And finally, as an industry, we need to get away from greenwashing.”Moreover, Laura Parry from <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1912" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Princess Yachts (Company)">Princess Yachts</a> believes it is important to look outwards as well as working from within the company.“I think it’s essential to work with as many groups and organisations as we can, because at the end of the day I want to be transparent – and if I can make savings within our organisation, why wouldn’t I want to share that with other organisations?” she asks. “Environmental sustainability shouldn’t be competitive; it should be about sharing ideas and best practice.”<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/261589/image/large-844516863426db0a2dbcb00315568607.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/261589">Financial incentivesThere is another element of policy at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1912" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Princess Yachts (Company)">Princess Yachts</a> that delivers financial benefits and links to energy efficiency. The voluntary Climate Change Agreement (CCA) scheme, established in 2001 as part of the UK's overall commitment to reducing CO2, aims to make energy and carbon savings through energy efficiency targets whilst also helping maintain competitiveness by reducing energy costs in eligible industrial sectors.“Businesses pay a climate change levy, but there are potentially &nbsp;huge financial savings to be had by applying and committing to those agreements,” Parry explains.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/23326/image/large-5be28ad1b004ce8702a6c6018867d752.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/23326">There is a list of eligible activities that a company can review, and if a site represents 70 percent of that activity it can apply to for an agreement. In <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1912" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Princess Yachts (Company)">Princess Yachts</a>’ case, it was surface engineering due to the laying up of the hulls and decks. They surveyed the sites and determined the relevant facts and figures, which were signed off by the Surface Engineering Association and then the Environment Agency, and the result is a reduction in tax. The financial impact can be considerable – well into six figures for businesses the size of <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1912" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Princess Yachts (Company)">Princess Yachts</a>.People powerLike at <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1912" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Princess Yachts (Company)">Princess Yachts</a>, Txema Rubio believes it is important to have someone within the company who is focused solely on the sustainability aspect and can support all departments. “That’s a real game-changer,” he says, “because it helps to have small initiatives at every single level of the company.”It extends beyond the obvious measures like increasing recycling to more advanced strategies for a circular economy. The yard’s procurement department together with a sustainability coordinator is checking what the industry can offer in terms of new interior materials, and it is inviting sub-contractors to find and promote new ideas and facilitate conversations.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/309999/image/large-3e762ac0105ee46b8ea7b680367ff8ac.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/309999">It is also manifested in initiatives such as the group’s Refit for the Future service launched in April 2023, which aims to assist owners looking to reduce the environmental impacts of their yachts through the application of the latest tech to drive sustainability.&nbsp;“We explain to crews and owners more the concept of transition and that the sustainability path is not a one or a zero – there will never be the perfect final solution for an asset built 15 years ago,” Rubio says. “But that doesn’t mean you can’t improve things.”

In the second phase, the focus will be on implementing this with a comprehensive materials database and user-friendly calculation tool.&nbsp;This will allow manufacturers to conduct eco-design and comprehensively reduce environmental impact, as well as communicate the environmental footprint to consumers, stakeholders and regulators. The project hopes to eventually go beyond carbon emissions and include other critical environmental indicators.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/308824/image/large-13ce8e821b3be7401b58db04e363f78a.jpg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/308824">“The outcomes will allow companies of all sizes to access the green transition without greenwashing, reduce environmental impact and proactively shape the regulatory approach in Europe and globally,” added Robert Marx.This combined effort will allow the yachting industry to comply with the latest EU environmental legislation and be ahead of the regulatory curve. The project has already been presented to the EU Commission and has received strong support.The threshold of 24 metres was chosen to align with EU regulations, and will be based on a coherent Life Cycle Assessment approach, following the stringent EU Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules.“We need a proactive and pragmatic approach to sustainability and this project will develop the tools that industry needs,” concluded Robert Marx.
