Italian shipyard Benetti unveiled a number of new products at Cannes Yachting Festival late last week, including the 40.7-metre Oasis 135’, a new superyacht designed by RWD. Developed to fulfil the needs of an active yet refined owner, who seeks to find the balance between sport and relaxation at sea, the new design offers a number of ways to be as close to the water as possible. The high ceilings in her interior spaces, together with the unusual layout of the onboard spaces and the extensive use of natural light underline the connection to the outside world.
Created together with UK-based design firm RWD and New York design studio Bonetti/Kozerski, the new concept strives to offers owners a more balanced use of their vessel.
“We’ve revisited the classic concept of onboard life,” explains Adrian Chisnell, Team Principal at RWD. “Today owners don’t use their boats in the same way as in the past. This yacht reflects a new more dynamic and less formal lifestyle for active, curious owners who don’t spend much time lying in the sun because they prefer to explore and enjoy the places they’ve just reached on their yacht.” Photo: Benetti Spa Photo: Benetti Spa Oasis 135’ interiors from Bonetti/Kozerski incorporate an elegant use of materials, colour combinations and decor to create a casual, yet chic appeal. Light coloured leather and rosewood in bright colourways ensure that the overall effect is equal to a spacious loft which blends indoor and outdoor spaces. The master suite, located on the main deck offers an expansive apartment, complete with a marble bathroom and a private balcony. Unique to this design is the pilothouse, which has been designated as a living space, complete with a lounge area with sofas and armchairs by the workstation. The captain’s cabin is located aft of the pilothouse, while two VIP cabins and two twin cabins are found on the lower deck. Crew quarters are located further forward, with accommodation for nine members.Photo: Benetti Spa The new displacement yacht, consisting of a fibreglass hull and superstructure, has a cruising speed of 14.5 knots, with a top speed of 15 knots and a range of 4,000 nm at 11 knots. The hull for the first model is currently under construction at Benetti’s yard in Viareggio, Italy.
