Bering Yachts has launched the first from its 44.2-metre B145 explorer series. Heeus, as she’s been called, made her first splash last Thursday when she entered the Antalyan waters at the Bering shipyard, Turkey. “We are very proud to have this first hull in the model range to be launched on the water,” Alexei Mikhailov, Bering Yachts Founder and Director, commented. “This will be the beginning of a new chapter for the Bering Yachts company.”Heeus is a semi-custom sub-500 GT explorer that can accommodate as many as 12 guests and 10 crew. Bering Yachts fitted her with five guest staterooms and an owner’s suite, which is located forward on the main deck and boasts an impressive 9.5 square-metre floor plan. To maximise the social aspect of yacht exploration, Bering Yachts carved out a very generous main saloon that doubles-down as a formal dining area for all onboard guests. A second dining area is located on her upper deck, in the skylounge. Heeus offers plenty of outdoor living space too without compromising on storage space for tenders and toys. Notably, she has a 25 square-metre garage situated behind her beach club, and a crane to launch and deploy her small fleet of tenders and toys. In terms of performance, Heeus has been equipped with twin Caterpillar engines and a hybrid propulsion system. Her propellers are driven by electric motors charged by a bank of batteries, which are recharged by high-efficiency, variable speed DC generators. She’s expected to cruise at 12 knots and reach a maximum speed of 15 knots. Heeus will be able to dock and moor in electric mode, and thanks to being built to withstand ice conditions can reach some far-flung and rugged destinations. Having a range that exceeds 5,000 nautical miles also helps.
