Best of British make dreams a reality

Travel

Two of Britain’s finest brands have joined forces to offer the experience of a lifetime. In what is believed to be a World first, the exquisite food and accommodation of The Vineyard Hotel has been combined with the opulence and luxury of the high-quality motoryachts offered by Sunseeker Charters to deliver the ultimate dining experience.

Have you ever dreamed of dining on the finest foods, freshly prepared by a chef boasting two Michelin stars, on board your multi-million pound motoryacht anchored in a private bay? Can you imagine the gentle breeze caressing your shoulders with the waves lapping against the polished hull as you and your guests enjoy the sumptuous comforts of a Sunseeker and banquet beneath the stars? Is this just a fantasy for the super-rich? Not any more.

The Vineyard at Stockcross already offers some of the finest cuisine, specially prepared by one of Britain’s most gifted chefs, John Campbell, dubbed the ‘cerebral chef’ by food critics. It boasts a wine-cellar that is second to none, as well as being one of only three hotels in Britain to be awarded a second Michelin Star. The spa hotel is proud to offer a stay of the highest quality. So when Peter de Montfort, The Vineyard’s deputy general manager, stepped on board a Sunseeker at the Southampton boat show, the synergies were obvious. The lavish luxury, contemporary design and excellent accommodation mirror the style and brand values offered by the Vineyard. It was an inspired idea to bring these two brands together to offer the best of British - a unique partnership on water, a meeting of first-class fare with the thrill of adventure.

Whilst a charter package is a completely bespoke affair (Sunseeker Charters can arrange everything from helicopter travel, limousine transfers and tailor-made menus), there are some suggested itineraries to whet your appetite.

Options include a ‘gourmet and yachting experience’ on board High Energy – cruising and dining on the most opulent vessel in the Sunseeker fleet, combined with a stay at The Vineyard involving ‘Truffle Therapy’ and sampling a ‘tasting menu’ with matching wines.

Or perhaps the James Bond experience is more to your taste – taking your guests by Aston Martin to the illuminated yacht and entertaining them with Bollinger champagne and canapés at the on-board casino, strictly a black-tie affair of course.

Peter de Montfort said: “Many of our guests are here to attend intense, high level business meetings, but in the evening they want to relax and are looking for something different. The discerning corporate customer is tired of country pursuits and bored with clay pigeon shooting, they have done it all before. That’s why our new gastronomy charters offer something completely different and stimulating.”

At present, High Energy is the largest Sunseeker motoryacht available for charter in Britain – and it’s also the most expensive craft at £3 million. “It looks absolutely stunning,” says David Ward, director of Sunseeker Charters, “and to combine two Michelin stars with a boat like this is a wholly new experience. Anyone can go to a great restaurant or board a luxury yacht, but to do both in this way is quite a different thing.”

David added: “Sunseeker and The Vineyard share a vision of delivering excellence in all that we do. Being able to offer food of this standard on board the best boat in the world is fortuitous all round. Our motto at Sunseeker Charters is ‘if you think it, we can make it happen’. With exclusive access to the entire Sunseeker fleet, right up to the latest 37-metre tri-deck yacht, and one of the finest menus available anywhere in the World, we really can make dreams come true.”

Sunseeker Charters and The Vineyard believe that offering two Michelin-starred cuisine on board a charter vessel is a World first. In addition, High Energy is not only the most opulent and expensive, it also the largest vessel of her kind available for charter in the UK.

Charter packages start from about £750 per person, based upon 12 people sharing the experience.
