Bond TM updated IT and AV training courses

Bond TM has reviewed its IT and AV training course syllabuses, and are offering three new courses for professional yacht crew next month. The courses will be held in Amsterdam, and include the latest updates for crew looking to improve their skillset and ability to handle IT and AV challenges under pressure on board.

The updated courses come following the constant evolution of IT and AV systems on board yachts, meaning that when there is no specialist IT-AV engineer on the yacht, which is often the case on vessels under 70 metres, the responsibility will commonly fall to the mechanically trained engineers to keep everything ticking over, who may not have experience in the operation and maintenance of these systems.

Herbert van der Westhuizen of Bond TM says, “We are continually looking to keep the courses current and fresh for our students. The new syllabuses ensure that the materials we cover continue to be totally relevant to the day-to-day operations on superyachts and are accessible for those who don’t have previous technology training.”

In order to provide knowledge and experience to engineers on the front line of the technology on board, the Professional Yachting Association-accredited courses are specifically tailored to meet practical needs. The courses use real life scenarios and a hands-on approach to effective problem solving.

Both the IT Level 1 and IT Level 2 courses have been revised to include the latest versions of Windows Server, Clients and Mail Exchange Server tips and tricks. The network troubleshooting parts of the courses have been updated with additional real-life practical exercises as experienced by the Bond TM Support & Services team over the last year. Furthermore, groups are limited to eight or fewer students, ensuring effective one-to-one training throughout the experience.

The two-day Bond TM AV course provides students with a solid AV knowledge base to get to understand the typical yacht installations, how to find failures in a methodical way and how to deal with day-to-day AV problems on board.

Courses start from €990 and are held in the Bond TM Amsterdam office. The next courses start from 1 June and are available for enrolment at [email protected].

Course information:
IT Level 1: 1-2 June (€990)
IT Level 2: 8-10 June (€1,500)
AV Course: 3-4 June (€990)
