Bridge crashes onto 49m superyacht Rockstar
A technical malfunction yesterday saw a drawbridge crash on to passing 49 metre superyacht Rockstar (ex. Blind Date), a charter yacht delivered by Trinity Yachts in 2009. Around 15 people were on the boat at the time and although nobody was injured, extensive damage was caused to the upper deck of the vessel, reportedly narrowly missing the Jacuzzi.

The cause of the malfunction is unknown as yet, and reports state that whilst passing underneath the Broad Causeway Bridge in Bay Harbor Islands, the bridge just suddenly slipped. Other reports suggest that whilst being towed by two tug boats, Rockstar came into contact with the bridge, causing it to collapse.
Throughout the day, the damage meant that nautical traffic was slowed to smaller yachts only. Bridge engineers in the area surveyed the area after the incident to ensure the bridge was still safe for car traffic, and the bridge was reopened later that evening. The extent of the damage to Rockstar is unknown as yet.
