In this series of articles, we take a look at the best brokerage deals currently on the market, as judged by our very own editors. What, Why, Where and Who will form the basis of the articles. This week, we have taken a closer look at the 85ft De Birs, Kena Marie.
What is on offer?
The 2007 De Birs Kena Marie presents a wonderful opportunity to own a yacht seen as one of the most innovative and safest vessels in her class. With a true mini-ship feeling onboard, Kena Marie surprises guests time after time with her practical layout and spacious atmosphere on board.
The raised pilothouse onboard Kena Marie creates one large living and meeting area on the main deck interior. From the main salon aft all the way through to a private lounge and study up forward, this deck is sure to be the social area onboard. In addition to the main salon’s large sofa, an informal dining area and fully functional galley can also be found in this space. Up forward large windows offer stunning 180-degree views from the owner’s lounge. This secluded area also transforms into the perfect media room with a large flat screen TV and sound system.
Kena Marie sleeps 8 guests in her 4 highly functional staterooms. All located on the lower deck, the spacious owners cabin is placed midships for maximum comfort and space. With the bed cleverly offset to port, the area is freed up allowing good space to move about the cabin. The VIP cabin is neatly placed in the bow of the yacht, where guests benefit from good views through either side of the cabin’s portholes, a practical study area and a bright and airy en-suite bathroom.
Two further twin cabins are on offer and located on either side of the yacht. As these cabins share a spacious bathroom, the layout of the yacht is ideal for families with children and friends.
Why do we think this is such a great deal?
The De Birs 85 is a great example of where innovative design ideas maximises the family experience onboard while managing to remain a maintenance-friendly yacht. The exterior areas are setup in such a way that guests will instantly feel at home on Kena Marie. The open and very spacious sundeck for instance is laid with a material called Deckadence. This allows the deck to dry fast, is soft to walk on, and doesn’t get hot the same way fiberglass or teak does.
The sundeck is the perfect spot onboard for social family barbeques around the massive grill and comfortable bar. A large dining area is also situated forward on the sundeck, divided into two separate tables.
Down on main deck, a cozy u-shape seating area is the ideal location for early morning breakfasts, and can then be transformed into a large sun pad by lowering the table with the touch of a button. Comfortable while underway or at anchor, Kena Marie is equipped with a Zero Speed Trac System to keep uncomfortable pitch and roll to minimum.
