Construction on Tankoa’s first 50 metre S501 superyacht project commenced in May 2015 after having been sold to a French client in February that year. Here the Genoa-based shipyard gives us an insight into the construction progress of the project which is on schedule for an April 2017 delivery.
Fairing of the hull and large parts of the superstructure is complete with the hard top still under construction and awaiting fairing. Sound insulation of the main and upper decks are underway with outfitting of the lower deck’s panelling and joinery in progress. The cabin layouts and decoration, designed by Margherita Casprini, has been approved by the client.
The yacht’s main engines have been fitted and anti vibration materials installed. Tankoa have performed the delicate operation of aligning the shaft struts and welding rudder supports under the guidance of naval architect, Visibelli.
The design was developed with renowned designer Francesco Paszkowski with the aim to achieve a balanced, timeless design with many amenities and facilities usually reserved for much larger yachts. She will accommodate guests over six cabins, including a luxurious full beam master and VIP suite located on the main deck and four guest cabins located on the lower deck. In addition, a gym, home cinema, and a seven metre tender garage will be found on board.
One of the aspects of the design brief given to the team was a necessity for permanent visual contact with the sea, achieved throughout with various floor to ceiling windows.
