Burger Boat Company has just launched one of the most exciting yachts delivered this year. Sycara IV is a stunning motor yacht in the tradition of J. P. Morgan’s Corsair. The engineers at Burger were challenged to create a composite mast and bow sprit, but wished to maintain the look and feel of wood in keeping with the style of the boat.
Working with Awlgrip, the two companies developed a system that uses all-Awlgrip products to create faux wood that will look and last as long as any of Awlgrip’s remarkable coatings.
David Halcomb, Senior VP, Awlgrip Global Business Development, said “When I first saw the artist’s prototype colors, I knew that we could develop a full Awlgrip system that would deliver the solution Burger expects from Awlgrip.”
Jim Ruffolo, President of Burger, said “We were confident that David would deliver an Awlgrip solution which would give Burger the quality our customers expect.”
The end result of the Awlgrip/Burger collaboration on Sycara IV is stunning and according to Mr. Halcomb, “Our goal at Awlgrip is to always supply our customers with systems that work. Deep luster wood that is NOT wood is simply the latest evolution of this commitment.”
