Burgess comments on the live auction sale of Lone Ranger
Although superyacht auctions still have a long way to go to match the established auction market for art, wine, antiques and other collectibles, a few significant yachts have recently been sold at auction in the last few years.

One of the most recent of these was the sale of the well-known 77.7m explorer yacht Lone Ranger(formerly Simpson S) during the Antibes Yacht Show last month – the first time a live auction has been hosted during a yacht show.
A long-standing client of Burgess instructed the company to attend the auction and bid for the vessel on his behalf, resulting in the successful acquisition of the vessel. On culmination of the bidding process, the Burgess team followed through with exchange of contracts to completion. “Our client obtained a very satisfactory result and is delighted with the outcome” said Burgess broker Matt Pinckney, who acted for the buyer.
