Burgess expands yacht management services in the US

Despite market conditions remaining tough globally, Burgess turned in an all-time record performance in 2012 across all divisions. The American arm of the company fared particularly well and is confident of a busy, if challenging year ahead.

With the key appointment of Matt Emerson as Director for the Americas to the New York office last year, Charmaine du Plessis as Charter Manager in Miami and Andy McNab as Yacht Manager in New York, Burgess continues to place a high priority on servicing its U.S. based clients and its growing operations across both North and South America.

The recent recruitment of Mike Scanlon as Yacht Manager to the Burgess Miami office marks a further expansion of the operational yacht management services on offer to U.S. based owners and yachts. A Class 1 Master Mariner, prior to entering yachting, British-born Scanlon served in the Merchant Navy achieving the rank of Chief Officer. He has held the position of Chief Officer on yachts of up to 74 metres (243ft) and for the last fifteen years has been captain on yachts of up to 45 metres (148ft), which included the management of a new build project. Scanlon will be supported by the European yacht management division of Burgess, headed by Mark Binnie.
