Cerri Cantieri Navali has recently presented its new range of products to the industry, including the restyling of the 102’ Flyingsport line, a new series of steel and aluminium Expedition boats called Phileas, and a new line of Navetta yachts designed by Studio Spadolini. Flexibility and great functionality are the key features of Cerri’s new production strategy, the shipyard state. I visited the yard this week, to learn more about the new line.
The new line of Navetta yachts will be offered in two different lengths; 24 and 35 metres. Spadolini himself explained the challenges when designing the range, stating that the main difficulty was to ensure the spaciousness and comfort rivalled that of much larger yachts.
When looking at the interior layout, Spadolini’s challenge seems to have been successfully completed, with the volume certainly being unusual for a yacht of this size. The main deck is entirely reserved for guests and includes the master stateroom and two VIP cabins. Two more VIP cabins are located amidships on the lower deck.
Moving on to the upper deck, a 40 sqm sky lounge and indoor dining area is found, while the aft outdoor area is furnished with built-in sofas and a table seating 8. All areas have been specially designed to ensure maximum brightness, thanks to the large glazed surfaces and the natural light that flows through the central skylight on the fly deck.
The 34 sqm sundeck is entirely devoted to activities in the open air: the sunpads, sunbathing area, and the barbecue make this area ideal to enjoy time in the sun. A Jacuzzi can also be installed here, upon request. The tender can be stored aft, transversally, thereby allowing to enjoy a swimming platform by the sea when the garage door is open.
The Navetta can be equipped with 2 CAT C18 Acert (or two MTU 8V 2000 engines), allowing her to reach a maximum speed of 14 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots.
A similar philosophy has been applied on the smaller 24 metre sister ship, which comes in steel and aluminium, or entirely in aluminium. The wide body design ensures great airiness to the approximately 40 sqm salon, featuring ceiling-high glazed surfaces. The night area has a traditional layout, with the master stateroom on the main deck and the guest cabins on the lower deck.
On the upper deck are a wide terrace, located aft, with built-in sofas and a dining area, while a comfortable day living area can be found behind the pilot station. The entire flybridge has been fitted as a sunbathing area.
Cerri's CEO Diego Michele Deprati, says, “This Navetta represents yet another step forward in Cerri’s evolution, on the way to becoming one of the leading players on international markets. We have breathed new life into some of Cerri's historical projects, such as the 102' Flyingsport, and introduced two new product lines, the Explorer and this Navetta, in just two months. I think our flexibility, together with the large variety of our products, is a real competitive advantage on an increasingly demanding market. This is a challenge we have taken up with great enthusiasm, but also very humbly.”
