A 22-strong fleet of sailing yachts battled it out in the Palma Bay on race day one of the 2016 Superyacht Cup. The Pantaenius race saw classes A and B separate from C and D, which were sent off on a slightly shorter course. A stable 7-11 knot breeze meant the field was challenged in every manoeuvre throughout the course, with no room for error. Sailing yachts Win Win, P2, Tempus Fugit and Mariette claimed victory in their respective classes on day 1. Two races remain with the event drawing to a close on Saturday 25th June. The SYT team were out on the water today where they took these photos.

Challenging first day at the 2016 Superyacht Cup

The <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Event/175" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Venice Boat Show - 2023">Venice Boat Show</a> is once again returning to the historic Arsenale of Venice from May 31 to June 4. The show is one of the leading exhibitions dedicated to the boating industry in the area and will feature over 220 exhibitors and 300 vessels. In actual fact, the average length of the current in-build yachts in Turkey is 49 meters, with many of these yachts being motor yachts and motor-sailors as well as gulets. Netherlands-based yacht builder <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/2948" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Van der Valk Shipyard (Company)">Van der Valk</a> has announced two new orders for a 34-metre yacht, Project 111.11 and a 35.29-metre yacht, Project Samba. In connection with closing of the acquisition on May 30, 2023, Viasat drew down on approximately $1.35 billion of its committed financing package, including a $617 million secured term loan facility and a $733 million unsecured bridge loan. The French electrical and electromechanical services company <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/7171" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Yachtelec (Company)">Yachtelec</a> has been acquired by the ship repair and maintenance group AMARIX, the owner of MACOR and ETI Services companies.
