At this year's edition of the Singapore Yacht Show, Yachting Partners International (YPI) was present to show the exquisite 33 metre sloop Shamoun. Although undeniably modern with regards to luxury and comfort, she has a distinct traditional look that is reflected in many of her design features, such as a huge wheel and the classic binnacle. The highly enjoyable combination of tradition and modern luxury makes her a perfect vessel for a variety of charters, ranging from intimate family get-togethers to business charters. Shamoun is particularly rich in ambience, luxury amenities and offers four spacious suites to accommodate her guests in style. Privacy is guaranteed, as crew quarters, including the mess, are completely separated from all guest suites. All these factors come as no surprise as she won the coveted “Best Superyacht (Sailing) Award” in the Singapore Yacht Show 2013.
Shamoun's exterior look, designed by award-winning Netherlands-based Hoek Design, shows a sleek, classically shaped hull with a lean counter stern, a deep aft cockpit, wide open deck spaces and a traditional, perfectly proportioned deckhouse. Overall, she has a sleek but powerful look, which adequately reflects her impressive performance capabilities. Due to her uniquely designed keel, her shallow draft allows her to perfectly reach many anchorages that would normally be inaccessible for an equally sized vessel.
With regards to her interiors, Shamoun boasts a wonderful open-plan layout, which becomes instantly apparent upon entering the main saloon. Leading inside through the main deckhouse, which offers virtually 360 degrees panoramic views and houses a navigation station, U-shaped dining area and mini bar, the main saloon shows a warmly classic design scheme with delicate chestnut flooring.
Combined with the richly applied, lacquered Honduras mahogany and cream panelling as key design ingredients, the open-plan main saloon has an intimate and informal, yet spacious, atmosphere. Supplied with modern technology such as a large video screen and surround sound system, this saloon transforms from lounge to media room and home cinema in the blink of an eye.
With an interior design subtly ornamented with distinct nautical themes, such as Breton stripes for the big L-shaped sofa's upholstery, large director's chairs for the open bar and galley area, plus artwork depicting maritime scenery, Shamoun elegantly presents herself as a warm and hospitable superyacht that offers a generous taste of classic sailing.
Shamoun offers generous luxury accommodation for a company of up to 8 guests, 9 if one of them is a child or teenager, as there is a pullman in one of the cabins. The yacht has a big master suite, convertible into a twin, and three doubles, one of which is also convertible into a twin. All guest quarters offer warm interior designs with mahogany and cream panelling. With amenities such as flat screens, satellite television and CD/DVD players, guests are always supplied with modern technology to make their stay onboard even more enjoyable.
The fact that Shamoun was present at this year's edition of the Singapore Yacht Show, should come as no surprise as she is perfect for a sumptuous and adventurous charter in these wonderful, diverse surroundings. Whether it is for a short sweet one week charter or an exciting two or three week exploring holiday, Shamoun fits the natural environment of the Orient really well. With her refined luxury, ambience and impressive performance, she simply offers everything needed for a perfect charter. Whether one prefers a soothing, relaxing and scenery-rich cruise or an activity packed adventure, or anything in between, she simply delivers. And Shamoun currently has an attractive programme available for charters in Asia, which is, to date, one of the least explored charter destinations in the world. As captain David Roberts stated during the Singapore Yacht Show, “The area has really opened up, and it's not restricted anymore. It's great to bring guests into these remote areas, which are becoming more difficult to reach elsewhere”.
Shamoun's charter programmes are a great way to experience this area making you yearning to come back for more. She is stationed in Phuket, Thailand for a half year and the other half in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia to optimise on the favourable weather conditions which makes her ideal for charter throughout the whole year.
To start things off, your day onboard Shamoun starts with a breakfast of your choosing. Whether you prefer coffee and croissants or a full English fry up, Shamoun's extremely friendly and professional crew of 5 will help you kick off your day smoothly. “Towards the end of breakfast, we start picking up the anchor”. Captain David explains. “We then go for a relaxing sail, while guests relax in the spacious cockpit, soak up some sun and enjoy a breeze. I’ll then find a good lunchtime anchorage, and with the boats unique draft, we can get really close to the shore and anchor stern to the rocks or trees’’
With idyllic surroundings and picture perfect vistas, having lunch onboard Shamoun is not only a gastronomic treat but a delight for all the senses. Or what about a romantic lunch on the beach? It's all within the scope of possibilities. Only one thing is certain; the lunch will be a relaxing and fulfilling experience that will leave you wanting more. And you will get more, as your afternoon is now free to fill some hours doing what you love to do most. Take a walk ashore, read a book, or sail towards another anchorage. For sport enthusiasts Shamoun offers a wide collection of water toys, such as diving gear for 8 persons including an onboard compressor and large hydraulic diving platform from the transom, and water skiing equipment.
Captain David: “Even though we do not have an onboard divemaster, whenever we have guests that would like to go diving, we bring in a local dive guide. It is the easiest way to get to all of the best underwater sights, as these local guys know the best spots around here in Asia”.
To get you in the mood for dinner, champagne and cocktails are served with delicious appetisers around six o'clock, perfectly timed to watch the sunset. A few hours later, your candlelit dinner is served at a perfectly private location. And as dinner slowly turns into a movie night, a walk or simply some time laying back and relaxing, Shamoun has undoubtedly proven herself to be an elegant, surprising and luxurious hostess to the day of your dreams.
Shamoun is a perfect choice for a charter, with her classic atmosphere reflecting a golden era of sailing, combined with the contemporary luxury. With the intimate ambience, spacious layout and ample amenities, she offers a wide range of possibilities for various types of charter, from family-friendly to business, and from one week charters to extended holidays.
