Launch: Cheoy Lee’s new line of Tradition and Explorer yachts

Written by Parisa Hashempour

Cheoy Lee Shipyards’ complete line of Cheoy Lee Explorer yachts and Tradition yachts has landed. Here, we summarise this exciting new series in full.

With American clients in mind, US-based naval architecture firm Overing Yacht Designs were the minds behind the design of the new superyachts. The builders collaborated with Seattle-based Sylvia Bolton Design to develop interiors to a “fresh and comfortable” design brief. Uniquely, the yachts feature a tank deck that crew can use to transit the vessel from bow to stern.

The yacht aims to champion practical work areas, for an efficient vessel, as well as sizable guest spaces. The yachts’ accommodations feature flybridge lounges and an aft beach club that designers assure will sustain that much-coveted connection between the owner and the sea.

Models in Cheoy Lee Yachts’ Explorer line include:

107 Explorer

Currently in build with an estimated delivery date of late summer 2022, this 32.76-metre yacht accommodates 10 guests and six to eight crew. She is a five-stateroom yacht, featuring a master suite on her bridge deck as well as a VIP suite on her main deck. The builders say her crew quarters are large and well-laid-out for a yacht of this size.Cheoy Lee 107 Explorer yacht profile renderingPhoto: Cheoy Lee

126 Explorer

“Blending contemporary styling with stellar sea keeping abilities, this expedition yacht has a 26-foot (7.9 metre) beam that makes her feel more spacious than other yachts of her class,” say her builders. Also accommodating 10 guests and six to eight crew, this slight alteration on the 130 Explorer features a bridge-deck master stateroom, VIP and captain’s cabins on her main deck, and three guest suites on her lower deck.

This 39.73-metre yacht is also currently in build with an estimated delivery date of late summer 2022. With an operating draft of 7 inches to 7.5 inches and a fuel capacity of over 10,000 gallons, she is set to be a versatile vessel. Accommodating 10 guests and six to eight crew, the 130 Explorer features a main-deck master and equally-sized guest suites.Cheoy Lee 130 Explorer yacht profile rendering

132 Explorer

This explorer yacht was originally developed for experienced owners who prefer the aft house expedition yacht configuration. Tenders and toys are easy to stow out of the way on the yacht’s foredeck. Like fellow explorers in this line, she can hold 10 guests and six to eight crew. Her five-stateroom layout includes a full-beam master suite located amidships.

Cheoy Lee’s Tradition line includes:

118 Tradition

With a cruising speed of 21 knots, this yacht features an enclosed sky lounge, which her builders say is rare on a yacht of her class. Her main deck encompasses a country kitchen and a master suite. She also has two VIP suites and two twin suites, making space for a total of 10 guests on board. With a 6-foot draft, she can comfortably cruise in shallow waters.Cheoy Lee 118 Tradition yacht profile renderingPhoto: Cheoy Lee

“What really defines the Cheoy Lee Explorer series is what they are capable of doing. Built to full class standards – Lloyd’s, RMI Yacht Code or the equivalent – they are true world-cruising yachts,” said Jon Overing, owner, Overing Yacht Designs.
