Italian shipyard Columbus Yachts - part of the Palumbo Group - are busy preparing for the launch of two new superyachts this coming weekend. On the 16th May, the Classic 57m as well as hull number two of the Sport Hybrid 40m will be launched on one of the Palumbo Group’s floating docks in the Port of Naples.
The Classic 57m is a fully custom yacht constructed with steel and aluminium and, until this point, has been kept as a closely guarded secret. She belongs to the Classic line inaugurated by Prima in 2011. Representatives of the brand comment on the interiors, stating, “All the 57m interiors are different from each other and may be described in one word as eclectic: a variety of particular woods, mirrors and marbles were mixed together in order to create a unique environment inspired by natural elements.”
The Sport Hybrid 40m has been built on the platform of the 40S Hybrid which was launched in summer 2013. Features are largely identical to the first version of the vessel, with an aerodynamic light-weight aluminium hull, soft and innovative exterior lines and a modern interior layout plus an optional eco friendly advanced electric propulsion. In addition, several large balconies combine with large deck areas to create a spacious environment.
Following the launch of the two new yachts on Saturday 16th May, Columbus Yachts are also set to reveal three new project lines; the Columbus Liberty Range created in cooperation with Marco Casali and ranging from 33 to 38 metres in length; the Columbus Sport Oceanic Range from 50 to 80 metres; and the Columbus Oceanic Coupé Range, of which the first two models are a 45 metres and a 50 metres, as reported on SuperYacht Times last week.
Both the Classic 57m and the new Sport Hybrid 40m will be present at September’s Monaco Yacht Show.
