The new all-electric 27.5-metre catamaran, Ocean Eco 90, is now in-build at Alva Yachts. Engineers and technicians at the shipyard are currently completing the moulds for hull and superstructure in time for her late-2021 completion date.

Photo: Alva YachtsDesigned by German studios HENNDESIGN and iYACHTS, the new yacht will be available in both hybrid and fully electric forms. Inside, the interior design is to be finished in a sleek modern style in key areas such as the large open flybridge and a well-lit saloon.
Photo: Alva YachtsThe Ocean Eco 90 features a beam of 14 metres to help support over 200-square-meters of solar panels which reach 40 kW at their peak. With a hull designed for green cruising to top speeds of 15-16 knots, she will be the first non-fossil fuel catamaran with transatlantic range and in the right conditions, she is set to cruise with limitless autonomy thanks to her solar panels' capability to store adequate energy to power the electric engines.

Photo: Alva YachtsThe power packages available for the new catamaran include a hybrid version with twin 250 kW electric drives and two 456 kW diesel engines to replace the conventional diesel generator, or a full-electric variant which uses twin 500 kW electric drives and a 360 kWh battery pack.
