Construction of wooden superyacht Castagnola 38 WJ started

Costruzioni Navali Tigullio - Castagnola has begon construction of the yard's new flagship, the Castagnola 38 WJ. The new yacht measures 38 metres and has an 8.10 metre beam. She will be completely built in wood.

Triple planking will be used the yacht's hull, but Lavagna is also looking into the use of carbon fibre sheets to improve the yacht's strength, whilst at the same time keeping the yacht light. The yards expects the Castagnola 38 WJ will have a full load displacement of 146 tons. When completed, she will be one of the biggest superyachts ever built in wood, powered by water jets.

The exterior areas have been designed to ensure maximum comfort on all deck levels, with a large covered aft deck, and a huge sundeck. Inside, she is designed by Andrea Borzelli & Sara Berta, The main deck offers a large saloon, a single guest cabin, and a pantry area located between the saloon and the large galley. The forward area is entirely dedicated to the owners stateroom, that offers a large cabin, two bathrooms, office area, and walk-in closets.

Four guest cabins, two twin cabins and two very comfortable double cabins, can be found on the lower deck, each with its own bathroom, along with accommodation for up to seven crew members.

A modern gym is placed between the crew and the guest area and is directly connected with the upper deck via a dedicated staircase.

As far as technical aspects concern, the yacht will be powered by three Diesel engines MTU 12 V2000 M94, giving 1432 kW each, coupled to three waterjets KAMEWA 56A3 through a ZF gearbox and double elastic coupling. It will allow the new 38 WJ to reach a 28 knot cruise speed and a 31 knot top speed.
