Contechs Marine debuts at METS

UK based Contechs Marine is bringing its outfitting experience of the high-end automotive sector to offer a dedicated range of interior and exterior outfitting services to the yacht market. The company’s first year at the upcoming METS coincides with this expansion into the superyacht and refit sectors.

Julia Tyrrell, Head of Sales & Marketing at Contechs Marine said: “This is our second exhibition of the season and we look forward to introducing our custom design collaboration, engineering, feasibility and manufacture services to further designers and yards at METS.”

Contechs Marine will work closely with designers and naval architects to provide support and consultancy services, adding and assisting with CAD drawings to ensure and visualise concepts as well as internal and external areas relating to design and engineering. The company delivers initial concept from brief through to fruition, providing feasibility testing, manufacture and project management.

Contechs Marine is the marine arm of Contechs, which has been providing outfitting services to the prestige automotive market for many years. Contechs is the preferred trimming supplier for special projects at Jaguar Land Rover and Peter Jarvis, owner and Managing Director, comments on one of the company’s latest projects: “We assisted Jaguar Land Rover in the entire interior trimming of its C-X16, a two-seat design. It was a completely new design from Jaguar Land Rover, so it was vital that every element, from the dash board and door casing to the detailed roof, was produced to high standards and did their design justice when it was revealed at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show.

Our experience in supporting designers in unique and highly bespoke projects means that we are able to offer a wide range of outfitting services to suit the custom nature of the superyacht and refit sectors. We also focus on the efficiency of design, cost and labour at the early stage of design through integrating CAD visualisation, allowing designers and yards to determine whether a design would be viable.”

In addition to exhibiting at METS 2011, Contechs Marine will be touring yacht design houses, naval architects, yacht management companies, project managers and yards, starting in the UK early next year. The company will be advising on how the company can assist in the early stage of yacht design to help save time later in the process.
