Contest 85CS sailing sloop launched
Contest Yachts celebrated the launch of the first 25.85-metre 85CS sailing yacht at their shipyard in Medemblik, Netherlands. Photographed just outside the shed and hanging from a yacht lift, the new 85CS is set to the become the company’s latest flagship design.Photo: Contest YachtsSporting a design from the naval architecture firm Judel / Vrolijk & co, which has also handled the exterior, the sloop features a shallow underbody and a plumb bow with an integrated bowsprit. An optional furler allows for asymmetrics, while the broad stern and twin rudders allow the helmsman total control over the composite yacht. The yard has utilised a proven Conyplex vacuum infusing technique which includes a sandwich laminate from sheerline to keel stub with a single shot infusion for the hull, grid and deck. Additionally, Lloyd’s Register has worked closely with the yard to ensure the 85CS’s performance and stability.
