Photo: Rowan Simpson Motor yacht I Nova was built by Cosmo Explorer in Greece in 2013 to a design by Cristiano Gatto. Vripack and Van Oossanen Naval Architects collaborated with the yard on her naval architecture and engineering. With her generous volume and smart layout, I Nova stands out for her capability to carry a wide selection of toys and tenders. On board, she features a five-tonne crane on her tender deck designed to carry a 10-metre, 50-knot enclosed Buzzi and an 8.5 metre Scorpion RIB. Twin MTU 1,408hp 16V 2000 M70 engines give I Nova a top speed of 15.6 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots, with an impressive range of 5,500 nm at 12 knots. With her five-year class renewed, the 49.75-metre superyacht is also ABS classified, MCA Compliant and sports an Ice Class D0 hull. A second sister ship was built by the yard which was moved to Italy in 2020 where the project can be completed as Supernova 55.
