Dauphin Yachts opens office at the Italian Riviera

Singapore based yacht builders Dauphin Marine Pte Ltd have together with their recently appointed marketing manager Capt.Thomas S.Wissmann opened a new representation at the Italian Riviera. At this strategic location it is more convenient to market the yard’s quality products and services to an international audience. The marketing strategy is based on close collaboration with yacht brokers, yacht designers, and fellow yacht builders who would like to use the Singapore facilities for new built projects from 35 meters to over 80 meters, power or sail.

The yard can build 5 to 6 yachts simultaneously. Many years of experience in building under Lloyd’s classification will assure the most demanding clientele of the yards capabilities. Also new on board at Dauphin is Singapore based Mr. Ngiam Choong Kam, appointed exclusive sales agent and liase between the yard and the new European office. Mr. Ngiam is a highly educated engineer who brings a wealth of experience to the venture.

The yard and the owner, Mr. Thian Kim Hoe, have a reputation as quality builders of offshore vessels, small tankers, and super yachts and likewise for service and refits of large yachts such as the 150’ SeaShaw or the Feadship White Rabbit. At their Singapore facility, the yard has 2 dry slips of approx. 100 meter in length and an 18 meter beam with lifting capacity of up to 1200 tons, as well as a five hectare workspace and a 150m seafront. Modern workshops and large undercover construction areas are well established. Due to the yard’s involvement in the offshore engineering field, there is a base of highly trained staff that is used to work at a very high quality level even within very tight schedules. With this set up, it is expected to satisfy even the most sceptical clients at a price level much lower than at any Western facility. The clients can chose their own designers or work together with an in-house team of experts to achieve most stunning results. Recently the yacht designer Don Starkey, together with Singapore’s MCA surveyor Richard Lamble, has inspected the hull under construction and the facilities at the yard (see attached photo) and a close co-operation is planned for the future.

At present there is a 55m (180’) motor yacht under construction with the hull almost completed, delivery can be given within 2008 if ordered now. This is a very attractive offer considering that most yards capable of building such a vessel are fully booked and any prompt orders will likely only be delivered in 2010 or even later. The yard prides themselves on their short delivery times and advises that they still have another building slot for a 45m to 65m available and completion could be as swift as in 18 months!

The representation at the Italian Riviera will also look after all maintenance and warranty issues for the clients in the Med and the Americas. A yacht ordered through Capt. Thomas S. Wissmann comes with project management “Made in Germany” as well as a berth at the Italian Riviera if desired! Capt. Wissmann has 23 years of professional experience in the yachting industry, has sailed the seven seas, has headed the operation of yacht service & building facilities in Italy and New Zealand, and is founder of the yacht brokerage & charter network Boats4ever.com. Yacht brokers are offered very interesting re-numeration packages to collaborate with Capt. Wissmann for their new built projects at Dauphine Marine Pte Ltd.

The attached photo shows the owners and senior staff of the Singapore yard exchanging the contracts of the venture with Capt.Thomas S.Wissmann at the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club.
