Organisers of the annual Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS) have announced that the region’s largest leisure boating event (to have taken place from 10-14 March) is postponed due to developments surrounding the COVID-19 virus. “Whilst the UAE remains completely safe for travel,” explained the organisers, “we have a high majority of key participants significant to the event’s programme that are unable to travel due to restrictions in their home country.”Photo: Tom van Oossanen / SuperYacht Times
As a result, the event will now take place between 24-28 November at DIBS’s new home of Dubai Marina and will coincide with the highly anticipated Expo Dubai 2020. “With the event now rescheduled in November 2020, Dubai International Boat Show shall operate at full capacity.”
The organisers and its partners are in agreeance regarding the new date, with Michale Breman, Lürssen Sales Director, commenting: "I'm pleased the organiser has consulted its clients on the new date for Dubai Boat Show. November is a wonderful time for our global yachting business and the simultaneous organization of Expo Dubai 2020 and Dubai Boat Show will co-create new opportunities and heighten interest in the region's leisure yachting lifestyle appeal.”Photo: Tom van Oossanen
Gulf Craft’s acting CEO, Abeer Al Shaali added, “Gulf Craft, Dubai International Boat Show's largest exhibitor based in the Emirates, is delighted that the boat show's new dates will coincide with the nation's most awaited celebration-Expo Dubai 2020 in November this year.”
