Dick Mulder 25 years at the Mulder helm

Dick Mulder is celebrating 25 years running the yard established by his father Dirk Mulder Senior in 1938. In the quarter of a century that Dick has been at the helm he has steered it through numerous major changes.

Initially the yard built small wooden sailboats, adding steel motoryachts and larger wooden sailyachts to its fleet in the 1940s and 50s. The smaller motoryachts were the forerunner of the renowned ‘Favorite’ cruiser series introduced in the late 1950s and manufactured until the 1980s. Soon after taking over the helm in 1984, Dick introduced two new types: The ‘Favorite Superior’ and the ‘Futura’. In the early 1990s the yard started constructing custom motoryachts and has never looked back.

Today, the Mulder Shipyard is almost unrecognisable from the company Dick took over in 1984. The Super Favorite Cruiser that was mainly intended for the Dutch lakes has been replaced by large luxury yachts supplied to clients from Holland and numerous other countries including New Zealand, Russia, Italy, Spain and Egypt.

Mulder Shipyard is renowned for the superb quality of its semi- and fully customised displacement and planing yachts. All are constructed entirely in-house, working in cooperation with highly specialised subcontractors. And there is much more to come for Dick and his dedicated team of employees. The yard recently opened a new carpentry department and purchased land for a new 6,000 m2 yard.
