Peter Döhle, the German ship-owner who over the last four years has diversified successfully into supporting large commercial and private yachts, has recruited a human resources professional, Sally Aston, from within the marine and recruitment industry to head Döhle’s new yacht crewing operation, Döhle Yacht Crew.
“Since setting up Döhle Yacht Crew www.dohle-yachtcrew.com four months ago, the response has been fantastic, frankly we’ve been challenged to keep up with the activity, ” says Rob Tobin, General Manager of Döhle’s large yacht operations, “I have been delighted by the huge number of qualified and experienced crew registering with us, certainly more than we ever expected; Sally joins us at a perfect time.”
Aston, who has over ten years of crew management and recruitment experience with Bibby and Shell formally, joined Döhle on 3rd September.
“I am very excited to be joining the Döhle large yacht support team,” says Aston, “I look forward to broadening my nautical human resource experience into the very special career paths of large yachts.”
Aston, whose background includes executive search and recruitment in the Finance Sector as well as Human Resource management, also has considerable experience in assisting individuals with career planning which is a central part of Döhle’s personnel strategy for large yachts.
“So far, the market response to our belief that it is possible to have a lifetime career in yachting, both at sea and ashore, has been remarkable,” Tobin says, “It is the same approach we have used successfully with the 3500 employed crew who operate our commercial ships to overcome what is considered a very real crew shortage there.”
Döhle now supports over 25 large yachts providing a full range of services, with the exception of Chartering and Sale and Purchase brokerage, to yacht Owners and Captains.
