The Turkish shipyard Esenyacht has appointed Mannerfelt Design Team (MDT) to develop a 50 metre composite motoryacht, marking the first motor yacht to be built by the company. Since the yard opened in 2011, they have launched the 36 metre sailing ketch, Glorious, with the 47 metre sloop, Troy, scheduled for launch in early 2015.
Design features will include an efficient hull form, advanced propulsion and a lightweight interior. “This is the logical next step for Esenyacht ”, comments General Manager Deniz Can. “We developed our first-class composite facility in recognition of the fact that lightweight, low emission yachts are the future of luxury yachting. At Esenyacht our goal is to build such yachts that also combine modern, contemporary styling with bespoke craftsmanship.”
Ted Mannerfelt of MDT added: “We are very excited about this cooperation. The design will be characterised by large windows and big, open spaces. The exterior styling will reflect advanced technology with a sleek, low, efficient profile inspired by my time as a car designer for Jaguar cars."
“The use of carbon fibre as the main material will result in a light, strong and extremely fuel-efficient yacht,” said Ocke Mannerfelt of MDT. “This combination of light, carbon-based build technology and environmentally conscious thinking is the way forward for yachting.”
