Extra Yachts reveals its first-ever catamaran: The 31m X30 Villa

Extra Yachts has announced plans to enter the catamaran market and has breached this frontier with an all new line of motor catamarans, dubbed the X30 Villa.Villa X30 project exterior designAs the name attests, the catamaran has a length of around 30-metres (30.5m, to be precise), and has been designed to “offer the unrivalled liveability of a home” to provide owners and guests with a “more laid back experience and a new definition of enjoyment on the water”.Villa X30 project exterior design The interior and exterior design of the X30 Villa catamaran has been penned by the Dutch studio Phathom, and the team sought to create a “dynamic synergy where automotive meets architecture”. The X30 Villa has a muscular and sport-like aesthetic that gives her that automotive feel, but also enriches her interior spaces with deft creativity.Villa X30 project exterior designAs Extra Yachts explained, “Creative architectural detailing, like the aft salon ceiling outstretching to the exterior, conveys a sense of a much larger social area when the doors are open. To further amplify the indoor feel of the aft cockpit, loose furnishings and accessories were chosen.”Villa X30project interior designVilla X30 project interior designBeing a catamaran, the X30 Villa is incredibly beamy (13.7-metres) and a potential client has heaps of opportunity to customise her general arrangement to their given needs. One option that Extra Yachts suggests, “includes the main saloon, library nook, bar and galley casually flowing into each other as part of the same open plan area overlooked by the raised wheelhouse and observatory. Other proposals show the galley below deck or a separate kitchen on the main deck.”Villa X30 project interior designVilla X30 project interior designVilla X30 project interior designThe X30 Villa catamaran features an ingenious multifunctional “high/low” platform that can support a five-metre tender and water toys, and which can be moved to align with the swim platform to create a large beach club. Her clever design is also felt forward with the master stateroom. Nestled between the two hulls the private, glass-bottomed terrace of the master stateroom can be lowered. When closed, the glass doors act as windows that look out to sea. She’s expected to have a cruising speed of 12.5 knots and a top speed of 17.5 knots.Vill X30 project exterior design
