Feadship calling all captains: an invite from the Queen...

The Feadship Captains’ Rendezvous, Amsterdam 2005 will take place between 27 April and 1 May 2005. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you to tour the yards, meet the Feadship people, learn about the latest developments and experience Amsterdam on the best day of the year.

Behind the Scenes at Feadship
The Feadship yards - Royal van Lent and De Vries – are pretty secretive places for obvious reasons. But on this occasion you’ll be granted exclusive behind the scenes access, and get to meet the people responsible for building the world’s finest luxury motoryachts. You’ll get a privileged insight into the modus operandi at Feadship. Presentations will bring you up to speed with what’s new at Feadship.

To complete the business side of things, there’ll be a special interactive training course on running a Feadship in heavy weather, and a tour of our tank test facility at the MARIN research institute ( www.marin.nl ). In short, lots of practical info to take back to your yacht.

A Royal Party
Once you’ve sold the ‘boss’ on how the tour will benefit you as a captain, it’s time to focus on the purely fun part. The 30th of April is a public holiday in Holland and the biggest street party of the year in Amsterdam. The Dutch are joined by people from around the world to celebrate Queen’s Day – a day when pretty much anything goes. Put a search in on Google and see for yourself (here’s one site to get you started: ( www.amsterdam-holland-travel.com/features-columns/queens-day-amsterdam.html ).

How much?
Nothing – yes, you read that right, this trip is on us. We’ll pay for your return flights to Amsterdam and your hotel. There’ll be some other treats on the agenda too... Dinner at the fabulous Maritime Museum ( www.scheepvaartmuseum.nl ), a visit to the world-famous Keukenhof gardens ( www.keukenhof.nl ) and more besides (check out the English pages on these websites)

Where will I be staying?
The luxurious 5-star Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky is situated in the very heart of Amsterdam on Dam Square, opposite the Royal Palace. Surrounded by shops, museums, restaurants and bars, you’ll be just a stone’s throw from everything the historic city center has to offer. And there’s no better base from which place experience the wonders of Queen’s Day.
