Dutch shipyard <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/29" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Feadship (Company)">Feadship</a> has unveiled a new 85-metre superyacht concept during this year’s <a data-gid="gid://syiq/Company/1429" href="#managed-by-system" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" title="Monaco Yacht Show (Company)">Monaco Yacht Show</a>: Slice.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/243241/image/large-d5c96f6667cd1eccb380c1fd9c8a9ca7.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/243241">With the vessel’s initial concept coming from Studio de Voogt, Slice is designed to “turn the inside out and the outside in”, according to the studio’s Lead Designer Chris Bottoms and Head of Design Tanno Weeda.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/243244/image/large-5f452298e35880eb47eb37002dd1e4b3.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/243244">As befits her name, she features a glass strip running entirely from bow to stern, allowing natural light to filter in through multiple decks, thus reconceptualising the way that light can be brought inside the vessel, and reinventing yacht corridors as enjoyable spaces in their own right.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/243242/image/large-bc0539177a2463c43b79c6d0b0adeb0d.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/243242">A stand-out feature enabled by her unusual layout can be found in the 70-square-metre atrium surrounded by cascading circular balconies and uninterrupted by the staircase.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/243243/image/large-9f557eb974a11319f679dcf467a4135a.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/243243">A 10-metre multilevel pool can be found on the aft deck which has been painstakingly designed by the design team using data science to place hidden dampers to reduce ‘slosh’ for users.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/243249/image/large-3f7fd1a9c6edebe884051ba5b8976a6c.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/243249">Measuring 85 metres, and with a generous beam of 14 metres, Slice could accommodate up to 20 guests (12 for commercial purposes), as well as housing a crew of up to 24.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/243247/image/large-e09cb478c5a00ac5ee15c31e42f7adc4.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/243247">Performance-wise, Slice is set to cut through the waters at speed with an expected top speed of 16 knots and cruising comfortably at 11 knots.With the shipyard keen to embrace more sustainable propulsion options, Slice’s propulsion could be powered by four dual-fuel generators which have been modified to run on both methanol and non-fossil diesel (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil – HVO), with the generated power delivered to two Azimuthing pods.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/243245/image/large-c464c5c85cc07e7b5d1509ab205d4f2c.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/243245">In addition, one of the generators could also be replaced with methanol fuel cells. Instead, the interior showcases materials such as backlit marbles and onyx, liquid metals, silver leaf, shagreen, straw marquetry and pyrite, with juxtapositions of shiny and matte surfaces key to the design concept.&nbsp;Warm, neutral fabrics and low furniture – intentionally employed to avoid obscuring views – create a sense of calm and refined ambience on board.<img src="https://photo-assets.superyachttimes.com/photo/243246/image/large-11181cc20e4d3cf6f428af0ab2cd329b.jpeg" data-gid="gid://syiq/Photo/243246">Finally, Slice has been designed to address owner concerns around privacy, with a full-height section and passerelle which hinge open at the touch of a button, enabling guests to disappear into the interior. As a result of this carefully engineered passarelle and watertight forward entrance, Slice would be able to be moored bow-in.

The first is a semi-open space of 320 square-meters on the main deck, with opening terraces, extendable to 400 square-meters, and with a gym and beach club aft. The cash portion of the purchase price was reduced from $850 million to $551 million after Inmarsat paid a $299 million special dividend to its shareholders in April 2022. In connection with closing of the acquisition on May 30, 2023, Viasat drew down on approximately $1.35 billion of its committed financing package, including a $617 million secured term loan facility and a $733 million unsecured bridge loan.
