The Italian shipyard Custom Line has launched its very first Custom Line 120’ superyacht at the Ferretti Group shipyard in La Spezia. Built for an American owner, the Custom Line 120 was developed in collaboration with Francesco Paszkowski Design.
This technical launch was attended by the CEO of the Ferretti Group, Alberto Galassi, as well as the Group's
Senior Management and the Custom Line Engineering and Sales teams. Attending the event as the
owner's representatives were the yacht's captain and Jason Wood, the US broker through whom the
sale was made.
The official delivery is due at the end of 2017 and her first official appearance is expected in the US in early 2018. Following this, the 38.3-metre superyacht will be based in Miami, sail between Florida and the Caribbean.
In design, the Custom Line 120 combines a traditional style with characteristics taken from automotive design. She also features contemporary interior designs, with all interior furnishings customised to suit the owner's tastes.
A new feature of the Custom Line 120 is the hull’s construction process which was created through infusion moulding. During this process, these structures are built and assembled as a sandwich in order to provide maximum solidity and lightness, which are enhanced by the use of carbon fibre.
Powered by twin MTU 16V 2,000 M94 engines, the 38.3-metre superyacht is expected to reach a top speed of 25 knots and a cruising speed of 22 knots.
The second Custom Line 120’ is currently under construction at Ferretti's La Spezia production facility, with
the hull of the third yacht expected to be transferred to the Liguria site in January 2018.
