The first two Icon 62m hulls are in the refurbished covered drydock facility in Harlingen in The Netherlands. Icon Yachts’ team is hard at work coordinating the arrival of modules from various ‘co-makers’.
Every hole down to 15mm has been pre-cut in the steel at the time of cutting the plates – far more efficient than doing on the assembled structure – possible thanks to the optimization of the standard platform, upon which each custom yacht is built, plus working up the details in 3D of each individual boat before steel is cut. Steel fabrication for hull number 3 is underway at another Icon facility and the superstructure is being built separately.
