Currently taking shape at Columbus Yachts in Naples, Italy is the yacht builder’s largest motor yacht project to date. Measuring an impressive 79.5 metres in length and 13 metres across, Columbus is relying on ultra modern construction techniques to have this new mega yacht ready for delivery in 2018.
The shipyard has teamed up with Hydro Tec for the development and exterior design of the vessel while Guida Design has been selected to create the interior areas. Her flush foredeck and full beam upper decks give the new 80-metre project an internal volume of 2150 GT, displacing 1683 tonnes at full load. The two shaft transmission MTU 4000 M63L engines amidships will deliver a top speed of 16.5 knots and a range of 6,000 nm at an economical speed of 12 knots.
One of the most distinctive spaces on Columbus 80m is located on the sun deck: the stunning panoramic pool, which is seven meters long and fitted with a counter current swimming system. It is fed from above by an eye-catching waterfall, which also acts as a virtual partition, separating the pool from the hydromassage tub. Located inside the mast structure, the tub is closed on three sides, conjuring up the magical sensation of a grotto hidden behind a blade of water.
Other amenities also include two forward garages for a tender/rescue boat and three jet- skis, a helipad, a sauna in the beach club, a gym on the fly deck and a cinema and multimedia room on the upper deck.
Six big double suites provide guest accommodation in the forward section of the main deck, while a seventh cabin on the lower deck can be used for younger guests or personal staff of the owner.
