Frank Brand, CEO of Fraser Yachts Worldwide, has received top-level recognition for his significant achievements as a mariner and as an industry leader in the yacht services industry. The prestigious “Mariner of the Year” award is one of the highest honors bestowed by the renowned Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA). Maritime industry leaders are eligible to be put forward for the award but only one outstanding recipient is chosen each year. The many nominations were reviewed and shortlisted by the National Maritime Day Committee before being whittled down to the final winner.
Frank Brand originally studied at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA), graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Marine Transportation and an unlimited 3rd Mates License. He spent the next 9 years sailing the world on US flag crude and product tankers, receiving his unlimited Master's license and attaining his first command at the age of 29. Frank then went ashore to supplement his education, earning a Master of Science Degree in Management as a Sloan Fellow from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) Sloan School of Management.
Instrumental in the growth and development of the Fraser Yachts management division, he is based in Fraser Yachts’ Fort Lauderdale office and serves as Chairman of the company’s Executive Committee.
Frank Brand announced: “I’m extremely grateful to the Academy for giving me this fantastic honor. I look back on my time at the Academy with pride and great memories. It’s wonderful to see that the MMA is continuing to prepare young men and women for exciting and rewarding careers on land and at sea.”
