From the Docks - 2

The Wall Sreet Journal reported that Larry Ellison sold half the ownership of his 138m (425ft) yacht Rising Sun. According to the WSJ his good friend David Geffen paid $125 million for the half-ownership.

Last week a yacht called Precious Gem was spotted in the Rivergate Marina in Brisbane. It turned out to be the 42m (138ft) Sovereign/Richmond Keri Lee. The yacht was hired for the shoots of the new movie Fools Gold and therefore temporary renamed Precious Gem.

The first superyacht arrived in the new port of Grenada, Port Louis. The yacht in case is the 38.75m Savvy. Savvy was built by Globe Engineering of South Africa in 1966 to a design of Camper & Nicholsons. The yacht is owned by Peter De Savary who also happens to be the owner of Port Louis. The developers of the port are confident that it will be a popular place among superyacht owners when completed.

The organisers of the Superyacht Cup Palma announced their plans for a new transatlantic race for super sailing yachts. The race should start from Antigua in April 2008 and it should attract yachts which plan to cross to the Mediterranean. Already 25 yachts over 30m (98.43ft) signed up for the race, including Maltese Falcon.

Last week we received a photo of Brave Goose of Essex. The yacht was seen in Puerto de Santa Cruz in Tenerife. According to The Guardian (2002) the yacht is owned by Britain’s richest prisoner, John Palmer. In May 2001 he was sent to prison for eight year and it’s unknown what will happen with the yacht.
