Developed together with Tim Dempers Studio Dorriës Maritime in Germany, Gill Schmid Design has been working on a new 80-metre hybrid explorer yacht design that was recently unveiled. With a global range and designed to Ice Class specifications, the New York design firm continues their futuristic, go-anywhere style of superyachts with this latest project. 
“The project is designed as a hybrid between a highly functional explorer and a super luxurious white boat,” explain her designers. This distinction is visible in the two-tone paint finish of the vessel with industrial silver used for operational and technical areas while guest spaces are decorated using a pearlescent white. A large part of the exterior is covered in mirrored glazing that allows the yacht to visually adapt to her surroundings as the sky and horizon blend in with the superstructure.
Not only classed as a hybrid on a visual level, but the yacht is also designed to run using a diesel-electric propulsion system, putting new cruising grounds within her reach only accessible to eco-friendly vessels. The high-volume design is the perfect platform to carry the yacht’s various exploration equipment. A fully-enclosed tender bay stores a 12-metre and an 11-metre tender along with the yacht’s Triton submarine and four Sea-Doo jet skis. With the craft launched, this area also doubles as an entertainment deck that can be opened or closed depending on the weather and allow guests to seamlessly move between the indoor and outdoor areas on the decks above and below as well. 
Another highlight on board is the helideck with its large open-plan deck aft that leads into the glass superstructure where a purpose-designed gym to starboard and a bright social area to port is located. Head to the spa after your workout or hang out in the Jacuzzi on the forward viewing platform as the sun sets over the bay.
The yacht is designed with seven suites in total consisting of an owner’s apartment with a private outdoor deck as well as six guest staterooms. Other amenities include a cigar lounge, formal dining area, beauty and hair salon as well as an outdoor workout area.
